Eh, I have a couple three Hollywood actresses I used to be high on. Scarlett is top-3.

Ah, she's a little young (looking) for me, I guess. I kind of have stopped checking out the really young actresses recently.

My current top-3 are Charlize Theron, Salma Hayek and Scarlett.

The various sauces and creams pretty much suck. My dad grows his own and his plants came from my great grandma. Basically, he chops it in a coffee grinder, adds some vinegar, and it's done. Perfect with oysters, beef, all kinds of stuff.

I think it's pretty good but I absolutely love blackberries so I could be a bit biased. It was hard to get (I think it was a limited release) and it just came back.

Yeah, I remember people going nuts over Peach and Caramel, both were really hard to find at one point.

Do you mix it with anything?

I don't drink a whole lot of soda so I usually sip it, or shoot it if I really want to get lit. Ive heard it's good with sprite or lemonade so I might give that a try this weekend. Probably shouldn't be blacking out on Thanksgiving LMAO

Straight, I'd probably go caramel, peach, vanilla, apple.

Mixed, caramel (especially hot chocolate), vanilla (root beer), peach (Malibu)... and didn't find a great apple mixer, because seemed like it would get lost in whatever I'd mix it with.

Damn, wouldn't have thought about lemonade but that sounds delicious. And I guess maybe blackberry tea might work.

Or if you have 2nd thoughts about getting lit on Thanksgiving, guess you could always try it with limoncello or lemon vodka. LMAO

You can always go with soda water simple syrup and either lime or lemon juice, I works with basically any liquor. I like calvados with it, basically a riff on a tom collins.

Also a Kir Royale is always a good use for fruit liqueur like cassis (black currant) or Chambord, it's just dry champagne and a bit of whatever liqueur

Also if you can find it and you really like apple, try pomme eau. It's calvados mixed with cider and then aged in I think oak. It's technically a dessert wine but it's pretty strong but very tasty.

I hate pumpkin pie. I hate pumpkin EVERYTHING. It's one of those things that I simply cannot comprehend why or how other people like it. And I really hate it when coffee shops kick normal flavors I like to the curb to offer pumpkin-flavored crap instead.

Why spend money on beets when you can just go out in your backyard and get the exact same taste by eating a handful of dirt?

I was like you was something in pumpkin pie I despised. My Sis one year made a pumpkin pie and like me she always hated it too. She discovered it was the nutmeg. She eliminated its and cut back on some of the other spices used cream and a can of evaporated milk and it was more tolerable to me with a lot of Cool Whip. I still prefer other pies but I can eat that pie pumpkin pie she made. She has passed and I don't know the exact recipe so no more of that.

Another pie I don't like is mincemeat pie an Aunt would always make one or two for the huge family get together at TG. I tried it once and never again. The WWII generation and older cleaned it up though.

I've heard of that, but never eaten it or to my knowledge even seen one. I actually looked it up to see what was in it. Beef, apples and various other assorted fruits? Sounds vile. Hard pass on that shit.

Turkey, Tourtiere, Pumpkin Pie

Pretty much the only time of year I'll make any of those 3. Maybe Tourtiere for Christmas.

Ambrosia Salad
Sweet taters

Calcountry 11-26-2024 08:29 AM

Turkey, Momma’s home made Rolls, and mashed potatoes.

You are set up for turkey sliders as well.

Ham, honey/brown sugar glazed
Mushroom business (like a mushroom bread pudding sort of)

Brown sugar glazed ham, cheesy mashed taters, eggs gone to the debbil.

It's just me and that's what I have in the kitchen right now.

My great aunt used to can her own mincemeat. I used to watch my dad eat that shit out of a jar, let alone in a pie. I've never tried it. I just...can't.

I am borderline addicted to Natchitoches meat pies, which isn't a "pie" in the traditional sense. Do not like mincemeat pie. Do not like rhubarb pie running around masquerading as a delicious fruit pie with those juicy red lips and shit.

Now I have to go look up old Weebl and Bob episodes. Thanks for that.

It may have to do with the texture as much as the taste, to be honest. Kind of like eating fried okra and you get that stringy one and you're just done.

I live in Texas and get called "Yankee" way to often, even though I grew up in the center of Bushwhacker Country. Geography/history lectures get tiresome.

At some point, you just go along with the available sides if they are breaded and fried.

I'm okay with beets. They're not my favorite root vegetable in a roasted medley, but in the right use they can be really good. I just had a beet salad a couple of weeks ago that was amazing. It was red and gold beets, arugula, almonds, goat cheese, and roasted shrimp. I almost ordered a second one after polishing off the first one.

I've also been drinking beet juice recently. I was wary, but it's supposed to be superhero healthy. It tastes good enough that I bought more.

Fair question...

I guess for me, not having any family, if I'm going to go into a caloric coma, its going to be tacos and/or nachos

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, and can make it out, I'd cook :D

Same. Mashed Taters are ok, but can have them anytime.

I'd eat a farting mouse's ass before I'd eat a beet.

Why spend money on beets when you can just go out in your backyard and get the exact same taste by eating a handful of dirt?

Beets, gross.

Thanks for chiming in, and to each their own... but I'm blown away by how many people are saying mashed taters

Thats something I probably have at least once a week year round, but a well made stuffing with celery, onion, butter and all of the turkey drippings is a treat I only get once or twice a year

I have to make the special mashed potatoes for thanksgiving full of extra shit.

Like loaded mash with bacon, cheese, onion, sour cream?

Thats a definite and welcome upgrade, but I still prefer stuffing once or twice a year... but you do you, there are no wrong answers in this thread

Sometimes I do this with the leftovers. In a 9x5 loaf pan I layer, turkey, gravy, stuffing, gravy, top with mashed potatoes. Wrap it in foil and throw in the freezer. Makes a nice leftover meal some cold February weekend.
