Smashing refresh hard on my Mecole Hardman and Jaylen Watson X searches.
If those guys play we will really take out the trash. |

from them both. |
I’m not seeing it with the Texans unless the Chiefs completely shit the bed somehow.
The rest advantage. Experience advantage. Home field advantage. Talent advantage. Coaching advantage. Just about every advantage goes for the Chiefs. Don’t see the pressure of a 3-peat being too much for the Chiefs in this one. If anyone can handle it, it’s this team. |

This shouldn't be within 10 pts. El Travador can empty the can - no more holding back. Offense is finally healthy. Andy gets in his playbook and calls forth a few colon stretching red zone plays.... |

I know that may sound obvious, but I could see them playing well against Buffalo or Baltimore and losing a close one -- one key play goes against them, something like that. Or the 13-second game without the 13 seconds. |
I predict the Chiefs, who hail from Kansas City, will win this football game.
Our defense will be so stifling we will bumble around on offense not trying to score because Andy is a sweetheart. 27-17. Late garbage TD from Texans. |

No excuses. Well rested. As healthy as we have ever been with plenty of time to game plan.
Not a lot of sure things in sports but this is about as close as you will get. If this is anything other than a win Andy better have a list ready with names on it because ****ers heads will need to roll. |

So... what changes from the Saturday-before-Christmas?
That's the question for me on this one. I'm seeing a few interesting themes ... one of them being about the Texans "dominating" the Chargers last weekend. Um, tell me you just looked at the box score without telling me you just looked at the box score... The other one is talk about "how close" the last matchup was. Which, I don't know. Other than working things to Tank Dell, I don't think Houston had many answers on offense. Stroud played pretty well in that game, too. For KC, I think this is the game we see Hopkins and Brown fully unleashed. No more snap count watching, no more working him in. Just let 'er rip. On defense, does Jaylen Watson get back on the field? I'm feeling something like 31-17, with the Chiefs making a statement, and looking locked in and dangerous. |
You serious, Clark?
Mahomes is 100%, Hollywood is fully ingrained in the offense, 80% snaps for DeAndre Hopkins, whoever is playing left tackle is far more comfortable than they were going into that game....if Watson plays we stomp a mudhole in these frauds. |
Listening to some talking heads it’s hilarious to me how much praise the Texans are getting for having a “good game.” It’s like no one actually watched the game. They were trailing 6-0 with like two minutes to go in the first half and got a very fortunate play to not get shut out. They had every right to be trailing at least 14-0 at that point and Stroud was awful out there. That game was much more about the Chargers bad than Texans good.

But not enough to make a difference in this game, especially if J-Wat plays. We did a great job on Anderson and Hunter last month, if we can repeat that we'll win handily. 34-17 Chiefs. |

As someone that was at the Texans game, I noticed that the speed from Worthy and Hollywood immediately made Houston’s assholes pucker. They dropped safeties back and were nervous.
I think you’re going to see us continue to kill them in the middle of the field quickly with Kelce/Hopkins. There’s just too much firepower for them to cover. |
Clay Martin’s crew will be officiating

Which has made them a rough draw when playing the Bengals, since Chase is then allowed to committ offensive pass interference as much as he wants, without any physicality coming back at him. |

As you noted, in the past all that did was work against us. Our DBs are physical, our WRs worked in space. But with Kelce being slower and D-Hop being a contested catch guy, there might be a little bit of mitigation for us with those crews. |
Not afraid at all. We should win for certain.

Anderson and Hunter are nasty. Autry is a nice rotational rusher in his own right. That defense can give us a little trouble but if we just operate fast, it keeps them from being able to do too much damage. And at that point the Humphries/Thuney question would barely even matter. |

Chiefs vs. Texans Referee News Gives KC Massive Advantage in Divisional Round
By Joe Summers | 1:03 PM CST Nov 24, 2024; Charlotte, North Carolina, USA; Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid yells out to his offense during the second quarter against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images / Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images The Chiefs are getting set for a Divisional Round matchup with the Texans on Saturday and we now know what referee crew will be in charge of the contest. Clay Martin, who has been with the NFL since 2015 and a referee since 2018, was assigned as the head referee for the 3:30 PM CT game. Kansas City is a perfect 6-0 in the Patrick Mahomes era with Martin refereeing, giving the Chiefs an extra advantage in a contest they're already big favorites in. |
I've always been fond of Martin as far as officials go, but an advantage? Lol.
Going 6-0 is nothing for a Mahomes team. I'd be disappointed if it was any worse than 5-1. Dude needs to shut up. |

"three touchdowns in lightning fashion!"
one of the best calls of the mahomes era |
Holthus on TheFan965:
"Patrick Mahomes will have the longest layoff in NFL history for a QB from his last regular season action to his first playoff game." "But I will tell you, since the league has gone to 17 games...this team, for it to back up mentally and emotionally...I've seen what happens to this team." "If that leads to a slow start, I don't think it will last long. The best chance this team had for a threepeat is the fact that they got this bye and these 23 days to get ready." |
Holthus said the Chiefs could play Humphries AND Thuney at LT Saturday.

#HOUvsKC #NFLPlayoffs officiating crew cheat sheet
HOME teams are 4-0 SU & 2-2 ATS in Clay Martin's playoff career, favored by an avg of -4.5 pts. One playoff game was a 22-17 KC win vs #Browns in 2020 & also #Texans 45-17 win vs #Browns in 2023 The Chiefs are 6-0 SU & 2-4 ATS w Martin, favored by an avg of -7.5 pts in those contests Most recently, their 19-17 Black Friday win vs. #Raiders in Week 13, which ended w' the illegal shift penalty on Las Vegas as time expired The makeup of this crew points to an emphasis on OFFENSIVE penalties The combination of FALSE START/OFFENSIVE HOLDING will be key in this game That combination accounted for 47.4% of Clay Martin's penalties in 2024 (No.1 in NFL) OFFENSIVE HOLDING without a doubt the No.1 issue for #KansasCity, they rank 3rd overall but are excellent in the false start category ,ranking 26th However, the Houston Texans are also an above avg penalized offense in BOTH these categories Traditionally, the NFL look to reduce these calls in the playoffs, so both teams should be provided some leeway THIRD DOWN ALERT Clay Martin led crews calling just 17.3% of penalties on THIRD DOWN, second FEWEST in the #NFL Additionally, the Martin/Hochuli crews calling some of the fewest defensive penalties on THIRD down, both in the bottom three of crews . Leeway will be provided on the money down if form holds. The #Chiefs an above avg penalized DEFENSE third down, the Texans a way above avg penalized OFFENSE on 3rd down #KansasCity OFFENSE ranks 11th as a BENEFICIARY of AUTOMATIC 1ST DOWNS via PENALTY. #Houston OFFENSE ranks 29th as a BENEFICIARY of AUTOMATIC 1ST DOWNS via PENALTY. Houston has improved from a penalty perspective down the stretch & they're going to need to put together a season best performance penalty-wise on Saturday . If they are behind the chains via false start or offensive holding too often, it's going to be near impossible to win at Arrowhead The Chiefs always reduce penalties in the playoffs, & by a significant amount vs regular season games The officiating angles & the playoff history of Andy Reid/Patrick Mahomes point to a home team victory to open the #DivisionalRound |

I'm sure that Andy Reid is telling the team to concentrate on one game at a time. It's
too early to think about the Super Bowl. Houston just beat a good team by 20 points. |

Houston brought their game uo to another level this week. They have serious talent on both sides of the ball. We can't just skate by them. We need playoff KC to show. |
Quote:
But Houston looked horrible for a large part of that game on Saturday eclipsed only by the Chargers being more horrible. This is a southern dome team, coming into sub freezing temps with a young QB and coach, running a defense that we play well against. I say we do skate by them. |
Will Anderson jr is a monster
|
The Chiefs and the Lakers are my favorite teams. But NFL games are very unpredictable. A random turnover at the wrong time can result in a loss. Also, CJ is a very good QB.

The Chargers, specifically Herbert were not good but they were keeping the Texans from doing anything offensively until...
Texans were backed up against their own endzone, 3rd quarter I believe. It was like 3rd and 19 looking bad for them. High early snap goes right past Stroud, now they are really in trouble but somehow Stroud picks it up, scrambles around and manages to get the pass off, good for a first down! The offense played well after that. it wasnt just the Chargers are bad. Stroud seemed to wake up and put the team on his back. Had they played like that for the whole game, it would have been an ass whooping. So... we need to make sure we keep them down for the whole game! |
Herbert was so unsettled from the start Saturday. He lost all touch on his throws. I texted friends during the 1Q, saying that eventually one of these piss missals is going to sail right at a Texans DB and sure enough they did.
They aren't gonna get that from Patrick Saturday. It's going to be much more pertinent that their offense plays the game of the year - hell, the game of Stroud's career - in order to win. I just can't see it. If there's one thing I feel tremendously confident in right now, it's that the Chiefs defense isn't allowing Houston to break 20. |
What is the weather going to be like Saturday in KC?

Houston's best chance is to jump on KC early. Especially if the Chiefs show rust from not playing a competitive game for three weeks. Their D-line needs to cause havoc to have a chance. On the offensive side, they should target Mixon and Schultz in the flats. Those guys cause matchup problems for our LBs. Mixon had only one reception in the first meeting. I was surprised they didn't target him more.
