I never loved Alex Smith. I liked him as a backup QB/replacement for Croyle. There is a huge difference between that and him being our starter.

Alex Smith is really talented. BIG arm, very mobile. The injury is really just bad luck.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, Dave. I'd still take him as a backup here. He also had a good arm before he got hurt, and he's still mobile.

GOATSE

once again

it's another LOADED, DIPSHIT, STUPID ****ing stat that all occurred PRE-HARBAUGH

JFC man...

Since Harbaugh, he's 2-3 including a playoff win using that LOADED stat. You're just using "bust" Alex Smith against the guy he's actually been the last two years.

One of those 3 losses was the miracle "Tony Romo punctured lung game" as well.

Dude, you can twist any stat you want to make Alex Smith look like Matt Cassel because he was a full fledged bust for the first four years he was in the NFL...

but it's real fair to compare that situation to an Aaron Rodgers who got to take over a team who was a Favre **** up and a Crosby miss away from making the Super Bowl.

My ****ing God dude sometimes you are just totally pathetic.

"HIS CAREER STATS ARE MATT CASSEL'S!"

Do I need to keep crushing you with this all night/week/month long or...?

Hammock Parties 03-02-2013 09:28 PM

It's not stupid. To do it only twice in seven years is embarrassingly pathetic.

If the 49ers didn't have such a great defense the last two years he'd have even more losses.

Hootie 03-02-2013 09:28 PM

it's ridiculous

his level of play this year was pretty much Trent Green-esque

that's his ceiling in KC

we all wanted a franchise QB...we got Alex Smith

that's a fair reason to be pissed/disappointed

but making things up to pretend we got Cassel version 2 is pathetic

Throwing the ball down the field less than Matt Cassel is Trent-Green esque?

Taking a shit ton of sacks is Trent-Green esque?

I have no idea but I know, speaking for the majority of this board, if we tried and missed it would have been pretty easily forgiven.

I'll ask you one further.

What player in this draft is a franchise player worth the #1 pick?

He's going to come here, and when our D has a bad game, we will lose.

None it's a bad year for the first pick.

Yes. Alex Smith operated Harbaugh's gameplan very well. Alex Smith could be Trent Green in KC. He could also be Trent Dilfer. His ability is somewhere between those two. He's an efficient game manager who has shown ability to make plays the past two years.

Does this excite me? No, not really. I'd rather have drafted Geno or Barkley and taken a shot but apparently Reid and Dorsey aren't believers in these QBs.

I don't think they are Scott Pioli stupid, though. Reid always drafted/realized the importance of QB's in Philly. Dorsey went from Favre to Rodgers...pretty sure he realizes what the winning blueprint in the NFL is...and I doubt those two are stupid enough to hitch their wagons to Alex Smith for 4+ years if he plays like Trent Dilfer.
