It might be just like Cassel all over again. Pioli did an absolutely horrific job of scouting and drafting. This team has one legit receiver and he was drafted in 2007.

That said, Alex Smith will handle this much better than a non-NFL Ready rookie QB.

We have junk for offensive weapons. Alex Smith is limited and can't do the things Bree's does with Graham

I highly doubt he is able to make some of those throws or would even try.

Oh, I agree. Just thought I would point that out politely before you know someone would of pointed it out rudely.

That's the problem. Those guys are role players, not stars. Neither of those guys are going to take over a game or cause issues for a top 10 defense.

He has to feed Bowe, because outside of Charles, he's the only reliable weapon he has, and through two preseason games it doesn't appear that they have that chemistry yet.

I completely agree. Which is why as an Alex Smith defender I was so hard on him after the 49ers game. No, the entire offense didn't play well, but he didn't recognize simple blitzes and locate the hot route, he didn't really try to force anything. The first game was fine. It was just a scripted thing, who cares, he took what the defense gave, yadda yadda yadda.

But this last one, there was no reason not to target Bowe, and he needed to see Baldwin coming across the middle wide open. Those are things he is going to have to do.

he is going to have to make some plays for the Chiefs, if they are going to exceed expectations.

That's just a given.

The second part. He can make every throw. He just WONT.

That's the irritating part.

Either way, any talk about the Chiefs pushing for a playoff spot seems silly at best right now. 6 Wins is going to be hard to get imo.

How bad does a guy have to be in order for a team to dump him one season after taking him in the 1st round.

If this is any indication of how bad our WR's are, we're in for another Looooong season.

We gave up a WR that was running with the 1s during training camp for a first round WR that has never caught a ball.

You just can't make chicken salad out of Jonathon Baldwin.

As I understand it if the 49ers cut Baldwin they would save one million dollars over cutting Jenkins. Somebody that really knows please set me straight.

Oh, I wouldn't go that far. Wylie, Hemmingway or Avery may step up. Davis is proving to be a very solid option to Charles and Fasano and Moeaki are better than average if healthy.

Keep in mind, the offensive has not game planned at all. Also, this defense is going to BEAST this season. And even average special teams will likely win a game or two this season and it certainly appears they're far above average.

All hope is not lost after two pre-season games.

I'm just thrilled that he won't be wearing Otis Taylor's number 89 jersey EVER AGAIN!! Adios, jackass!

Next year, Hali's number drops in half (IIRC) and I'm certain Berry will get an extension in 2014, lowering his cap number significantly. Albert won't be on the team and if he is, it'll be far less than $10 million.

You have to remember the cap limit increases next year due to the renewed tv contracts. Cap should be increased by 8 to 10mil

All of this, particularly this defense, teams that sleep on them do so at their own peril.
