I thought he was at Spencer Fane? I suppose it's possible he went back to Shook.

He's had an interesting legal career. I think he's probably a pretty decent attorney but I wonder if firms aren't bringing him in largely for name value and one-off cases here and there. He seems to be something of a nomad that's never really stuck on a partnership track.

Admittedly, that could be wildly unfair and is based only on the fact that the novelty of Corby Jones practicing law keeps his name floating about silly legal sewing circles, but that's the impression I've gotten.

It's dog-and-pony show, I think. Firms bring him in to get the name recognition, but I have no idea how effective he actually is as an attorney.

He's back at Shook according to LinkedIn.

In the "Because Mizzou" folder for this week: Marcus Loud was kicked off the team for an unspecified violation. I'm sure someone knows more than I do about this.

What, for the last two years has arguably been the best tandem of DEs in the country is now a potential significant weakness. Kuligowski will definitely earn that raise this summer.

Is Charles Harris going to step up this year and make a name for himself?

He's certainly the most likely one to do it. Walter Brady, Rocel McWilliams, Frazier (the JuCo transfer) and Spencer Williams are the other guys who will be in the rotation.

Brantley is going to be the big playmaker this year. I think he's another potential first rounder. Augusta can really step up this year, too.

Mater thought that Nate Howard might get PT, but given his frame and as a fall enrollee, I think it would be better to RS him.

Dr. Gigglepants 05-21-2015 11:31 AM

I agree, Brantley will be the man. CH seems to fit the mold of all our past DEs who blew up out of nowhere. I just wonder if he has a mobster year does he jump if he is a likely Rd 1/2 guy. Or does he come back to solidify a Rd 1 grade.

I sure hope Beckner qualifies.

I don't really know what happened with him other than him generally being a bit of a head case due to distractions in his home life. It's a bad situation and he didn't successfully escape it.

I think Charles Harris is going to have a really big year/breakout year. He has a great first step and has gotten much stronger. He could have a Shane Ray/rs. sophomore type of breakout.

Walter Brady is probably the next best of the rest. The JUCO, Frazier, was also brought in to be an immediate contributor. Hopefully he's ready.

With loud, it Seemed less like "if" he would be kicked off the team and more like "when".

I also think the pass rush will be less dependent on great DE play than it was under Steckel and Eberflus.

Odom apparently ran "vanilla" in the Spring game, and it was significantly more creative than ANYTHING the other two ever ran.

Blitzes from the corner, S and LB were actually effective and not "super tricky" delayed blitzes.

If the DEs aren't getting it done, I'm comfortable with Odom being good enough to scheme pressure from other spots.

Odom was a huge get, just as loud is a pretty big loss in terms of on the field play. He looked like he was really coming on in the spring. In terms of being a teammate, though, this could be addition by subtraction.

Yeah, you kept hoping he'd get it figured out and on occasion he'd say the right things.

But in the end, this just seemed like a foregone conclusion. I never expected him to be the guy hugging Gary with tears in his eyes on Senior Night. He wasn't going to have the Markus Golden ending.

I just really worry about this season. Without any returning threats on the outside, losses on the OL, and the biggest strength of the team becoming a significant question mark to weakness, 7-8 wins might be a best case scenario, especially since Mauk had a terrible spring and has never shown the ability to elevate the play of others.

We've got a wildly favorable schedule, but we're due to lay an egg. Every team in the East is very flawed. Georgia looks like the team to beat, but their schedule is a bitch, and they're breakng in a new QB.

I don't think they can do much worse than that rat bum, Mason. Chubb is going to be an animal this year, though.

Saul Good 05-21-2015 05:21 PM

They've had nothing but studs at RB every year.
