In fact, that article even referred to it as a 4 year, 87.6 M extension

If Alex Gordon signs an extension today paying him an additional $80,000,000 through the end of the 2019 season, people aren't going to say "he signed a 4.39 year contract worth $83,981,545". They're going to say he signed a 4 year extension worth $80,000,000...and only Dane will wonder why his contract will be up with 68 games left in the 2019 season. |

For Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, the headline is that he signed a four-year, $87.6 million extension, with a new-money average of $21.9 million. The truth is that the last year of his current contract, at a base salary of $1.542 million, has been ripped up and replaced with a new five-year, $89.1 million deal. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...gin-to-emerge/ And how shocking is it that you're not reading a single link. Oh wait... |

As Florio stated, it's nonsense and the biggest fiction in assessing sports contracts. But hey, don't let facts fool you. Oh, BTW, what's it like to be Hootie's minion? Does he pay well? Is it all in pizza and cheap beer? |
Lmao. No. That is just Florio's wording. They didn't rip up his contract. What is 87.6 + 1.542?
The truth is, he received a 4 year extension for $87.6 million. More than likely, it's a 3 year, $57M deal and they'll renegotiate before the 2018 season. |
It's actually 17.8M.
Aaron makes $850K more per year. This has already been discussed. |

I'd like for you to prove to us that Wilson is receiving $31 million this year, as you claimed. |

To me, it looks like a 3 year, $57M deal, which is basically fully guaranteed unless the Hawks cut Russell for performance related issues. It would be tough for Seattle to cut him after giving him $31M to sign. |
