Teams that could go 1st round QB before KC, realistically:
CLE
SF
NYJ
ARZ
HOU

Cleveland is going for Jimmy, SF likely wouldn't use pick 2 on one, Houston doesn't look promising as if they sign Romo, their OL will need upgraded.

Okung to CHARGERS: $25M true guar, 26M over 1st 2 years. 39.5M over 3 years. 13.25M APY (53M over 4 yrs). Record setting APY for the LT

Russell Okung's $13 .25M new money APY actually tops what the Skins gave Trent Williams. New high. Not bad for a guy with no agent

How ****ing dumb are the Chargers? They replaced an overpaid, average, often injured LT with another overpaid, average, often injured LT.

What a train wreck that F/O is.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Browns will release Robert Griffin III.

Well, where they pick, and signing an old guy like Romo doesn't really mean much. You have to expect that other teams can and do trade up or down throughout.

While our guys might not be great, we locked them up before Oline contract armageddon. WTF is going on with these Oline contracts? It's like every team agree to increase their pay this offseason.

How could Dorsey know that the salaries for Oline were going to go nuclear?

People want to talk about the league being rigged, how about all these prices going up in such an organized fashion? :shake:

There is our veteran backup.

No need for any young QB's on our roster.

Everybody knew this was going to happen. The cap has been going up dramatically for four years and teams knew it wasn't stopping.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-09-2017 06:38 PM

It's natural inflation. The cap goes up, the prices go up. Plus, players have a lot of leverage on the open market.

Today, Stephon Gilmore got $13M per year from the Patriots. Naturally, we can assume that if Peters continues on his current track, he will get between $16-19M per year. It's just the way it's gonna be by then.

In this particular case, the guard market was loaded and it was a bidding war to get the top dogs. Therefore now all of the top guards in the league will be looking for $12M per year or more when they are due for a pay day.

Red Dawg 03-09-2017 06:40 PM

Jimmy has like as close to zero experience as you can get and the Browns want to trade for him and pay him at least 15 mil per year? That's the going rate for any starter apparently. Why the hell would they do that instead of just drafting one with less money involved?

Stupid media act like he is some proven commodity. He's a very late second round pick from a shit college in Illinois.

When your QB is dog shit you over pay. We have nothing to offer but money to players. Nobody is lining up to play for teams where the QB is crap and called nothing but ordinary and a game manager in all media types.

Every outlet thought and believed we should try very hard to get Romo but of course our football experts said no. Let's stick with Smith for another year. He's a stand up guy and nice to others.

#Seahawks & RB Jamaal Charles have mutual interest, sources say, & a visit is expected when Charles begins taking them. A potential new home.

Especially if Romo picks Houston.

If the Texans pass on a QB because they signed Romo, they don't have any business running a team.

A few people here on the board knew it. I don't remember who they were, but when LDT signed, a few posters here mentioned that the Guards were going to get paid big money during free agency.
