"Harrison Ford will miss as many as eight weeks of filming on Star Wars: Episode VII after the actor broke his ankle on set, a source close to the production has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
|
It'd be awesome if this was misdirection by Abrams to cover for Ford not shooting because Solo dies.

There is a "Forest Fortress" set. It looks ruined and features a large sandstone-colored door. The set resembles Yavin IV more than Endor. There are no snow-planet sets at Pinewood. False reports about Hoth appearing in the movie may have come from the Everest snowscape set at Pinewood. The "Imperial stage," which is "huge," features a full-size TIE fighter prop and greenscreens on two sides. There is also a Star Destroyer bridge set, recognizable based on its "distincive triangular windows. |

I kinda don't want to click on this thread any more. Maybe we should create a separate spoiler thread and a separate non-spoiler thread.
I think I don't want to hear any more about the new Star Wars movie. I want to walk in as surprised as I can possibly be in the age of the internet. |

Star Wars: Episode VIII' Sets Director
UPDATED: "Looper" director Rian Johnson will direct the second new film and write a treatment for the third. The Looper director is in talks with Lucasfilm to write and direct the next Star Wars film, Episode VIII, according to sources. Contrary to reports that he will be directing the next two Star Wars film, Johnson will direct only Episode VIII, but he is writing a treatment for Episode IX. Ram Bergman will produce Episode VIII. Johnson has directed three feature films. His directorial debut, Brick, won the Special Jury Prize for Originality of Vision at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. He followed that up with 2008's Brothers Bloom and 2012's time-jumping sci-fi action-drama Looper, starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Johnson, repped by CAA and Lichter Grossman, also directed three episodes of AMC's hit series Breaking Bad. J.J. Abrams is directing the first new film, Star Wars: Episode VII, which currently is shooting. It stars John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Max von Sydow, who will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. |
I'm treating this as a spoiler.

Huge spoiler if true.

However, according to Philly, "Star Wars bosses," have denied the reports that have suggested that director J.J. Abrams is expanding actor Oscar Isaac's role in Episode VII, despite Harrison Ford's on-set injury that put him in rehab.
A representative for Disney denied the rumor about Isaac's role being expanded, stating: "This is categorically not true." |
Pretty big spoiler so using this thread.
Spoiler!

Previous reports claim Luke Skywalker has been missing for 30 years since "Return of the Jedi." However, recent speculations suggest the Jedi Master may only be missing for ten years. During his time between "Return of the Jedi" and "Star Wars: Episode VII," Luke supposedly escaped to Yoda's home planet in Dagobah to resist going to the Dark Side of The Force.
Earlier "confirmed" plot details for "Star Wars: Episode VII" from Latino-Review claims the second draft of J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan's script tells the true fates of Luke Skywalker. Courtesy of shhhh user Mizzlewump, who initially claimed he read the script, fans learned that the Jedi Master has been missing for 30 years. Additionally, the rebel fighter would eventually turn to the Dark Side at the end of the movie. However, a recent report from This Is Infamous contradicts Luke's disappearance of 30 years. The site claims he has only been missing for the past 10 years. The earlier 20 years were spent rebuilding the Jedi Order after "Return of the Jedi." It is within this duration that Luke Skywalker's command of The Force reportedly got stronger. The site claims he can literally move mountains with a mere glance. Movieweb adds Luke Skywalker's powers can even stop Imperial ships. Movieweb writer Brian Gallagher claims his strong powers come with a price. Soon Luke Skywalker starts to sense a disturbance in The Force and is slowly being drawn to the Dark Side. This is when he supposedly escapes to Dagobah for a self-imposed exile to resist the temptation. It is reportedly in Dagobah that the Jedi Master is found by old and new friends. The site adds it could be where Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's characters discover him after their search. Previous rumoured plot details for "Star Wars: Episode VII" mentioned by the International Business Times include a search for the missing Jedi Master. After Daisy Ridley and John Boyega finds a lightsaber held by a severed hand over at Tatooine, they journey off worlds to search for the rightful owner of the Jedi relic. Their search leads them to Han Solo and Chewbacca. Together, they start off in a quest to find Luke Skywalker. However, Luke Skywalker's fate and whereabouts are all still speculations as LucasFilm or Disney have yet to reveal any details regarding the production of "Star Wars: Episode VII." http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/56652...m#.VBnvFostCM8 |
Smells like bullshit. You can't have a character that powerful in Star Wars. It would punch too many holes in the plot. There's zero story if Luke can just take out the bad guys with a wave of his hand. There's also no story if he turns to the Dark Side because uh, that sounds like game over for the good guys.

I guess I can buy that he became very powerful and feared he would lose control so he sought shelter on Dagobah, but god-like? That might be a bit much. |
Revan was almost there. Why not Luke? Oh nvm you need both sides of the Force or suck the force right out of entire planets. My b.
|
If darksiders realized that the channeling of the force through one or two powerful users was one key to greater power, it is not entirely impossible that the same atribute could apply to Skywalker.
