Exactly. If Mahomes wins the SB this year, it will be the greatest QB performance ever. First year or otherwise.

Random thought but does anyone else wish they held one conference game on Saturday and another on Sunday. Kind of like that format from last week over both being Sunday tbh.

Idk about the conference finals. 2 weeks off after tomorrow seems like long enough to me. When we win tomorrow it’s gonna be a long ass time til SB Sunday.

I've never seen someone like him. He has the raw physical talent of Rodgers, the bravado of Favre, the will to win of Elway, the nerves of Brady, the preparation of Manning, and he's playing in the perfect system with the perfect coach, like Brees. He's not ANY of those guys yet but he has the potential to be right up there with all of them.

Mahomes is special. I don't know about GOAT since I can't predict the future but when I look at him he passes every test possible. He's special and hopefully you guys kick Denver's asses for years to come. I hope we beat you in every match, but with Brady leaving sooner than later and Mahomes so young... watch out afc.

Dude, MLB managers decide who the starting pitcher is for a game. They determine the line-up. You only have so many slots in MLB. An MLB manager, in terms of effect on the game, has MUCH more effect on an individual game than an NFL coach does.

Yet, even in MLB, superior talent makes superior teams. Good players win, good coaches help them win MORE.

Nothing more pathetic than a 41 year old future HOF QB with 5 Super Bowls and a smoking hot wife still trying to play the no respect/underdog card.

It makes Brady look like a bitter old man.

I have no idea if he'll be the GOAT. I can't predict the future either and so many different things can happen.

I've just never really seen this kind of "complete package" before. Some guys are raw athletes, some guys have arm strength, some guys have iron will and ice in their veins, some guys are students of the game.

In rare instances, guys have 2 or 3 of those things and they become great. But Mahomes is one of the few prospects I ever remember having ALL of the them. It just blows my mind that he's a Chief. Stuff like this doesn't happen to us.

Cover 0 is the best bet in terms of blitzing, but Mahomes has had so much time to learn and prepare for it since we went to New England.

The way that guy used his arm length in that Chargers game. He just pushed the lineman over who couldn't get a hand on him.

Imagine if the Chiefs signed Trey Flowers next season.

He’s got the package to overcome his lack of footwork right now. As his natural abilities fade due to age....his mind and his ability to learn will keep him in the top 5 of QBs. At least how I see it.

I completely agree. He doesn't look like he's starting his first full season. Guy can make all the throws and looks like a perfect leader. He also has the grit Brady does which is a good sign. Alex Smith was a good guy, but he was never a franchise guy. Mahomes is just a great football player and its impressive how good he is.

I don't think this excited feeling ever goes away. Doesn't matter how many afccgs I see and how many we win/lose. Its an exciting week. I wasn't as nervous last year. Probably a tad more this year because Mahomes is special and reality is telling me once this run ends, I might never see this again. Gonna be a great game. :D

The only thing that might make it different, to me, is that the Pats receivers will catch the ball instead of dropping it.

I swear the Colts had 10 drops in that game.

But then I realize...are the Pats receivers really ALL THAT much better than Indy's? Hell no.

And Brady can't move like Luck.

The Chiefs are just too talented. On BOTH sides of the ball. Our D-line is going to be a problem.

Excellent. :).

Sometimes i get more nervous for early games as do not want to go out one and done or what not.

I am not nervous yet but the game is still 24 hours away, we will see what tomorrow brings.

I am kind of content with whatever happens. Be really great if the Pats won and really want that to happen, but at the same time the Pats have a difficult opponent in a tough stadium so I would not be upset if we loose, just tip your cap to the other team.

Glad we made it to another AFCCG.

I don't think we will have as many drops as Indy, but Edelman is probably good for a drop a game nowadays. I think we can score on you, but we won't be able to keep up with you if you guys score too much. If you guys score 37 points, its an easy L for us this time. We CANNOT let you guys go over 31. If we keep you under 31, we have a chance. Gotta be near perfect.

Mahomes has had a great year for a first year QB but this is kind of a pointless discussion because among the HOF caliber QB's who has

1) played in an era where it is this damn easy to pass throughout the entire league. -- receivers and Qb's more protected than ever and 16 game season instead of 14 in the distant past
2) inherited the keys to an offense with one of the best receiving cores in the NFL
3) been drafted and handed the keys by a very good playoff team the first year he is starting and a coach willing to throw the ball

Mahome's has been operating with a Ferrari(Hill) and a couple of BMWs on offense most of this year while many other legendary qb's didn't start off with much.

Grogan played with some very good teams with the Patriots that he was a part of but also some bad teams as well. I just looked at his numbers at KSU....you must not be exaggerating at how terrible his teams were back then since in his early days with the Patriots, he actually put up some nice running numbers but at KSU he really didn't. He was pretty fast so any decent line in college, he should have been able to pick up some decent yards.

Grogan was super tough so it made Tony Eason look really bad in comparison. I still remember a play one year where the Patriots season was over without a first down on a 4th down scenario. Pass rush on Tony Eason and he ducks to protect himself so he survives the sack much better. Game over and from what I remember season over. Eason had that half of a second to see oncoming rush but not enough time to spot an open receiver. Grogan in that end of the year scenario would have just thrown the ball up for grabs even if there was just a 2% chance a Patriots player catches it for a first down.

Grogan played after suffering from a crazy amount of injuries. Almost won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in the 1970's but Patriots lost due to a very controversial roughing the passer called that even Raiders players admit was rarely called. Shell of himself from age/injuries vs the Bears in 86 Super Bowl.

Well, gosh. If a first-year starter scored 50 touchdowns and threw for 500 yards in this environment, what types of gaudy figures did the veteran quarterbacks have?

The Sugar Bear Hamilton penalty.

stevegroganfan 01-19-2019 06:50 PM

I will certainly congratulate the Chiefs in they win and wish them well in the Super Bowl.

Before the season, I kind of thought the Eagles may actually repeat but I wasn't paying close enough attention to Rams and Chiefs.

Maybe Chiefs win in a blowout but I have a feeling this game -- barring major injuries to key players that can't be replaced -- will be a classic no matter the result and not kind of a dud like Patriots Chargers and Chiefs Colts.

Colin Cowherd actually makes a good case why the Chiefs will win. Basically says having playmakers is more important on the road.

We HAVE to disrupt the timing of their routes.

That was so bizarre. It's almost like LA thought to themselves "ok we know they're expecting us to get out of the zone and play man....let's stay in the zone...they'll never see it coming" I mean that's the only logical explanation I can think of.

If Mahomes wanted to he could have played in the MLB

Athletically gifted does not do him justice.

Oh yeah, starting to get real butterflies thinking about our first AFFCG since Montana when I was but a young lad

The difference this time is going to be transcendent young Mahomes at home in an Arrowhead Stadium that will surely be APESHIT... on this day it's going to be a different GOAT who gets his dick knocked in the dirt on the road in the bitter cold

Which vile act did the Patriots commit to get the Faketriot moniker. The Cheatriot one is obvious. But Faketriots is new to me.

That was so bizarre. It's almost like LA thought to themselves "ok we know they're expecting us to get out of the zone and play man....let's stay in the zone...they'll never see it coming" I mean that's the only logical explanation I can think of.

ROFL

And then thought "BB is definitely going to expect us to make an adjustment, so instead let's adjust to that adjustment by not adjusting.. He'll never know what hit him"

Is there a difference between a Faketriot and a Cheatriot?

Never heard Faketriot before I came to this board and I've heard 'em all.

Went to Kansas City Chiefs' Wikipedia page to do some editing (was flagged and disallowed for being potentially unconstructive) and noticed someone had already beat me to it lol https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Chiefs

Sorry if Q

Whoever edited that is a dummy. Use the 2018 Chiefs wiki page.

Less than 24 hours. I'm so excited. Not an ounce of nervousness or doubt in my mind.

Even IF, and I just don't see it happening, we do lose my head will be held sky high. I had zero expectations of a Superbowl run this year and would have been elated to hear we'd win the division let alone the conference.

$500 says that the Patriots hotel won’t have any fire alarms pulled tonight.
****ing assholes.

I'm just an old-time football fan. Mahomes is a generational talent. Gotta appreciate it.

Been a fan of the NEP for a loooong time.

Seeing y'all excited is cool.

I'm excited as well. Gonna be an awesome game.
