Of the 5 relievers ran put there tonight Newberry is the only one I want to see back. What a steaming pile of shit the pen is.

The existing relieving core is a mess. I can see four additions to the bullpen next year;
Lovelady
Nate Karns
Travis Oaks
Jesse Hahn

And, I would not be opposed to putting Duffy back in the pen if he continues to be inconsistent as a starter.

Guys I want gone;
Hammel
Maurer
Flynn
Lively

They will likely break camp with Maurer in the closer spot next year, in the hopes
Of him having a strong start to the season and trading him for something.

Which is kind of silly and inconsistent with how they approached 2018 (they could have gotten nice pieces for Scott Alexander and Joakim Soria had they held him).

We’ll see Richard Lovelady and Josh Staumont, I think, which could be a pretty impactful and transformative duo.

[Laughing]

Woke up in the morning
Put on my new pitchers glove
Served some reheated nacho sauce
With a little slice of love
Got no clue what the Ballpark dog is made of
Just know everything's doing fine
Down here in LoveLady Land

Well I wear this Royals cap on my head
Cause my blue hair is fallin' out
I wear these brown orthopedic cleats
Cause I got a bad case of the gout
I know you want seconds on the brauts
But there's no reason to shout
Everybody at The K loves it
Down here in LoveLady Land

Well yesterday's burger is today's sloppy joes
And my breath reeks of peanuts
And there's lots of black hairs coming out of my nose

In LoveLady Land your dreams come true
Clouds made of carrots and peas
Mountains built of Gates BBQ
And rivers made of macaroni and cheese
But don't forget to Toss your trash
And try to ignore my gum disease

No fan can escape the magic of LoveLady Land

karns? He had TOS... he probably won't ever pitch again a la Hochvar.

Also true

BigCatDaddy 09-19-2018 07:39 AM

Damn... I want Maurer no where near this team next year.

Alex Gordon is the 49th best player in the AL (2.2 WAR)

Whit 4.7 WAR (12th in AL)
Mondesi 2.4 WAR (45th - extrapolated out to an entire season would be 5-6)
Perez 2.1 WAR
O'Hearn 1.3 (Eric Hosmer with six times as many ABs with 0.8)
Phillips 1.0

OTHERS:
Lorenzo "NL MVP" Cain 6.6
Mike Moustakas 2.4
Hosmer 0.8

You didn't mention Alcides Escobar ?

siberian khatru 09-19-2018 05:56 PM

Mondesi so far tonight: double, homer, stolen base

Star.

He's going to get so much better when Alcides Escobar is on the streets, too. I can see him now taking advice from Escobar. "ok ok Alcides - what do I look for with this pitcher" - Alcides be like dude I dunno I just roll out of bed and swing at every pitch.

Bufkin 09-20-2018 08:21 PM

Another multi-hit game and homer for Mondesi. He’s the present and future of Kansas City baseball.

dlphg9 09-20-2018 08:49 PM

Thank God he was untouchable as a prospect. That would have been tough to swallow.

suzzer99 09-20-2018 10:14 PM

Yep - Dayton gets ripped on here. But he had that one right.

It's funny because we saw him in '15 and I was like - yeah the guy's fast, and he did hit one homer a long way (which maybe was '16 I forget), but mostly he looks clueless at the plate. Scouts know what's up though.
