From the sound of things, it would basically be the NFL equivalent of the Red Sox and Braves' chokejobs from a couple years ago.

I think it would be much worse then that because all the Chiefs really need to do is win just 1 game.

Isn't that exactly like what the Braves didn't do?

They needed 1 win and lost a ridiculous amount of games in a row.

Yeah actually I thought the Dolphins and Jets had one game left against each other... they have two. So that could hurt them. Nobody left has a real favorable schedule. I wonder if it'll only take 8 wins to get the final seed. What an ugly playoff race. 7 teams all .500 or below fighting for one spot basically.

Honestly the most favorable schedule left might be Buffalo. And they are the 14 seed. They only have 5 games left after a bye this week. Atlanta/Tampa/Miami/JAX and then the last week against New England, who may be resting people. They run that to get to 9-7, they could get in.

Well shit. Next up, the pissed off Patriots followed by the pissed off Chiefs.

DaFace 11-18-2013 11:38 PM

cdcox's software gives the Chiefs a 99.9% chance of making the playoffs at this point. I know it had the Broncos at around 98% a few years back, but it would truly take an epic collapse for us not to make it in.

If we only win one game, we're all but guaranteed to be in (99.5%). Even if we lose EVERY SINGLE GAME from here on, we've still got an 83% chance of making it in.

Oh, trust me, that'll be the case. I'm just talking about right this instant. The Chiefs could probably go 0 for the season and still make the playoffs with how bad the AFC is.

My bad I wasn't thinking that nobody besides the Broncos have gotten to 9 wins already. Tk13 is right, the rest of the AFC is awful. I know people think we have it bad when really this our best shot to win a playoff game in a long time IMO.

Definitely true, but the most likely scenario is that we'll be #5 and going against either the Colts or Patriots at #4. Neither of those will be easy wins.

NFL Rule Book: Pass Interference
Quote:

The restriction for the passing team starts with the snap. The restriction on the defensive team starts when the ball leaves the passer’s hand. Both restrictions end when the ball is touched by anyone."

It is pass interference by either team when any player movement beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders the progress of an eligible player of such player’s opportunity to catch the ball.

Actions that constitute defensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Contact by a defender who is not playing the ball and such contact restricts the receiver’s opportunity to make the catch.

(c) Grabbing a receiver’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass.

(d) Extending an arm across the body of a receiver thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, regardless of whether the defender is playing the ball.

(e) Cutting off the path of a receiver by making contact with him without playing the ball.

Yep. And with the Colts they'll likely looking for revenge IF we beat them a couple weeks earlier at Arrowhead.
