His release or a trade would free up $14 million, but $7 million in dead money would be created. An extension could help the cap and keep a major weapon around. LDT, Reiter, Sorenson, Colquitt all potential cut candidates. Clark re-structure potentially in play. I’m skeptical of a Jones trade. I think he plays on the tag. |
Since the trades don't take effect until that deadline on Wednesday, does that mean we have to be under the cap before we can complete any trades? In other words, is our only choice for freeing up cap space through restructure or cutting?

They can dump Erving and restructure Clark and be under the cap.

Erving will save you 3.25 mil

I thought Erving was already dumped?

With McCoy leaving Carolina, I wonder if Matt Rhule wants to make a splash and fill a need with arguably the best defensive tackle in the game in a trade with the Chiefs?
Panthers have over $25 million in cap space. Bridgewater for Cam is a push salary wise, pending a trade of Newton. Panthers receive Chris Jones + Chiefs 2020 1st (#32) = 590 points trade value chart Chiefs receive Panthers 2020 1st (#7) + 2020 3rd (#69) = 1745 points trade value chart Net trade value chart points = 1155 points or the equivalent of the 13th pick overall. |

Like, I know we're not signing anybody. I was just looking for some cut or trade. Something to stir shit up around here. |
Panthers are tanking for Lawrence. I don’t see them making a move like that this early in the process. Sounds good in theory though.
There just aren’t a lot of potential suitors for Jones. The best bet is absolutely the Dolphins. They are the only team left with the draft capital and cap space to make this trade. |
