2 years, $18 million is somehow huge money? Have you not been paying attention to the FA market so far this offseason?

Do you not understand the difference between what is essentially a QB contract and this one?

This is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and it’s just for 2 years.

Go damn some of you are ****ing reeruned about this shit.

Saints also wanted him. It was bidding war and we did what was needed.

They also had healthy Jamaal Charles and very good defense. There were 10 pro bowlers on that team and most of them were on defense.

This team has a bad defense and a declining offense. It still has Patrick Mahomes though so we will see. They have time and assets to fix it.

I'll give you the bad defense - for now.

But declining offense?

We lost ONE contributor, have signed two and still have FA and the draft to go.

Oh, and the best QB on the planet.

Take a breath.

I feel like the Chiefs have done nothing but whiff at the WR position outside of Tyreek for almost all of Andy’s tenure. Tyreek was the exception that made it all okay. MVS is a guy I’ve watched a lot and really felt like he sucked. So seeing him get paid a veteran deal and be hyped as part of the answer is not real encouraging 2 days after losing Tyreek.

It isn't just under Reid, for 30 years just like the QB position we haven't drafted a true #1 WR except Bowe and Hill blows him away even. We tried drafting and bringing in all kinds of WR FA's and almost all of them have sucked.

just frustrating what we just did.

Fishpicker 03-25-2022 09:27 AM

MVS looks like the modern equivalent of James Jett. JJ had a better target/catch rate though.

still... if Nagy/Bieniemy can figure a way to threaten and make use of spatial discrepancies, the KCC offense can remain dynamic despite the departure of 1 player

This is what I don't understand with some people. I could see the constant ****ing whining and complaining if we had somehow lost Mahomes. Hill hurts for sure. It eliminates our biggest all around weapon. But we still have our HC, QB and TE. We added a WR2, improved our WR3 and still have Hardman as a weapon.

And we have 8 PICKS IN THE TOP 135 OF ONE OF THE DEEPEST DRAFTS IN HISTORY.

I don't think anyone on here is 'ecstatic' about Hill leaving, not sure where you're getting that from?

But people that are acting like the sky is falling need to chill the **** out. Reek and his agent made a 'business decision' and forced our hand. It is what it is. We're worse right now, but this will be a better move for the Chiefs in the long term. Tyreek can only band-aid a few issues on this team. The trading of him (and the money, cap space and draft capital gained) has the potential to fix a LOT more issues on this team.

Now the Chiefs front office just needs to get shit done and Veach and his scouts need to have another great draft. It can be done. But it's up to them.

Yeah as I said I accept it's a fair argument that the offence WITH Reek collapsed. But then there's the Buffalo game too. Depends what we're focusing on I suppose, but both positions are defensible in my mind.

Have you read the "optimists" thread? Have you read any post by Rasputin? There are some people here who really do seem to be suggesting they're happier he's gone right now. Perhaps in the long-term, and perhaps AFTER the draft and FA we can say that. But right now it's nonsense. I mean i'm excited to see who we pick for sure, but I'm not cartwheeling around thinking about how it'll replace a HOF 4.2 WR.

With you, 100%.

If people wanna bitch, they should focus on the glaring holes all over this defense.

I could be and really hope I am wrong on this but I am thinking that this is the last great\above average year for Kelce.

I hear you. For me it's a clear loss for the 2022 season, but I had low expectations anyway given our cap situation and what other teams had done to improve. Beyond that if we make some of the right decisions/picks this could be a reset move that sets us up wonderfully for Mahomes Phase 2.0.

The Chiefs clearly didn't go into the offseason with this as their Plan A, but the Adams deal changed things and this is the direction they're going in. And while it sucks to lose Hill, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't quite excited about watching this all play out.

No part of me is ecstatic - I promise!
