Jackson Kowar with a 1.01 ERA through 5 starts in AAA. Any chance he'll be up soon?

I bet they give him at least a start. |
What I've learned from baseball this year is Fernando Tatis is the guy to bring back popularity to baseball.

Major League Baseball needs both Tatis and Ohtani to stay healthy. |

Moving him off SS and to 3B and would help with that, though they have Machado entrenched there. They do have CJ Abrams coming up like a rocket, too. Not sure his SS defense is good enough to force creativity with Tatis (more likely, Abrams plays CF or 2B). |

Edward Olivares was scratched from last night’s lineup in Triple-A Omaha.
With Jorge Soler’s injury yesterday , could it mean Olivares is on his way to KC? |

Olivares starting in RF today. Will be nice to not have to watch Dozier or Soler attempt to play that position.

Twins are the slowest damn team getting their lineups out. Been waiting for their dumb asses to get it out so I can post the GDT.

Olivares is ready for the show and Pratto is ready for Omaha.
Prattos development has really been exciting. He wasn't even a Top 10 prospect anymore at the beginning of this year. |

Is there anywhere to watch NW Arkansas games online?
|
Very encouraging signs in NW Arkansas on the offensive side of the ball between Witt Jr., Pratto, and M.J. Melendez. Both Pratto and Melendez are OPSing over 1.000.
|
Pratto and Melendez are great current examples of the nonlinear development of baseball prospects.
Both made major swing changes at the training site last year and we’re seeing the results this year. They’re zombie prospects. And great examples of why you don’t give up on guys. Sometimes guys just never get there (Bubba Starling). Sometimes they do (Kyle Zimmer). |

Statcast rankings of dudes who should have more HR based on exit velo, launch angle and what park they occurred in
1. Trevor Story: 5hr (should be 12) 2. Salvy: 10hr (14) 3. Soler: 4hr (8) |
Maybe I missed it, was there any news on why Mondesi was taken out of the lineup yesterday?

Royals Record Beginning June 1st 26-26 .500 ball
This with an 11 game losing streak!
Just took a sweep of the Pirates, 27-26. IMHO, my prediction for the rest of this year. ( Looking ahead at the schedule left ) If the wheels do not fall off like in May ? 85 to 90 wins. Now I know many here will disagree, but I think we can get to 85. Now 90 may be stretching it, but damn if we hadn't of went into that damn funk for 11 games, we could have won this division. Playing the AL East will be tough plus we got to hold up against the White Sux and Indians. We have to have good outings against the A's & Astros. Starting pitching is going to be key, we have to get solid outings from our starters. |

Is it a coincidence that once Soler is removed from the lineup, Merrifield starts hitting?
|
Quote:
It looks like Merrifield's luck is starting to normalize. As I pointed out last week, he had a similar batted ball profile as last year but with a much worse BABIP. That typically is going to indicate bad luck, which you'd expect to normalize over time. |

Oliveras needs to stay in RF. If Soler returns it is solely at DH.
That means Dozier plays 3B and Gutierrez hits the pine. (Oliveres>Gutierrez) |

Nine Low-Hype Prospects Who Are Getting Close to the Majors
by Kevin Goldstein June 2, 2021 Jackson Kowar, RHP, Kansas City Royals Yet another impressive college arm from Kansas City’s 2018 draft class, Kowar ranked eighth on our Royals list entering the year, and while he’s only made five starts so far in 2021, he would surely move up if we re-ranked today. He’s yet to allow more than a run in any of his quintet of outings for Triple-A Omaha, and while the mid-90s fastball and one of the better changeups in the minors have been as advertised, what has changed is his breaking ball, which has gone from fringy-at-best to perfectly average in terms of spin and shape. It’s a much-needed wrinkle for Kowar to succeed as a starter, and he is beginning to line himself up for a big league look after the All-Star break, if not sooner. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/nine-low...to-the-majors/ |

Once Soler is back in the lineup, any 2 of Lopez, Gutierrez or Olivares will be heading to the Omaha. Or only one of them, if they're good with 8 in the pen.
