RPG style, frame to frame.

It's one of the best TellTale games out -- a great resurgence after the failed Jurassic Park. Have you not played many adventure games?

No, not really. Like I said, though... The story is pretty damn good so far.

Season 3 won't begin until October, just like season 2. Should be around Halloween. I have a buddy who made the same mistake.

Played part 1 and 2...i've enjoyed it. Only $20 for season pass and it feels like the show, and a bit more action in part 2. If you expect shootem up non stop action then dont bother. If you like story and the feel of wondering if you'll make it past certain points then get it. It feels like the show

Yup. And it's nice that your decisions are actually meaningful and carry over throughout.

Yup -- The Secret of Monkey Island, of course... and the Sam & Max series are fantastic. Some great humor in these titles.
I'm assuming you've played Monkey Island at some point though -- the original, I mean.
Here's a screen from the remastered edition. You can switch back to the original version at any point in the game by hitting "select".

I would too. I heard Kirkman regretted having Rick get the governor special so I doubt the show does it. Although I would like to see it happen.

Yeah I doubt it happens in the show too. That would be harder to pull off on the show than the comics I think.

I have dl'ed the first two..

A little action but mainly story driven but feels like the show. I've enjoyed them so far, ep 2 is much better.

Sorry for the late bump but I just finished watching the second half of season 2 and then read this thread from where I left off (144 pages!).

I've been wondering how they are going to handle Carl. The problem with child actors is they tend to grow up faster than their characters. Even in the season 3 preview, he looked significantly older.

Also, earlier in the thread, someone mentioned zombie animals. You might check out Brian Keene's The Rising and City of the Dead. It has a unique (to me, anyway) take on the zombie mythos. In the books, any mammal, bird, fish or reptile comes back to life once dead, with the sole purpose of eradicating anything alive. Also, the body of the dead continue to decay, eventually trapping the undead entity in a useless vessel.

Pretty fun (though grim) read.

I tried playing it but the controller I use on PC was messing up with this particular game. It always kept making my cursor go to the top of the screen. I would just use a mouse and keyboard, but I have my PC hooked up to the big screen TV in the living room and no suitable spot to use a mouse and keyboard.

HA! I knew Merle would be alive. I got into an argument with a co-worker after season 1 when I said that he would show up alive some time down the road. He kept insisting "Nah, he's dead dude. No way will he show up again". Of course I called bullshit. I'm glad I was right.

Episode 3 of the video game has been released. I'm probably about 3/4 of the way through it. Some tedious points, some WTF moments. Mostly good. I still don't think the decisions you make alter the storyline all that much.

It changes a little, usually the outcome is ultimately the same (for instance, in episode 3, the situation with Katjaa, Duck, and Kenny in the woods has the same outcome no matter what) . I play 2 separate files so I can make different choices on each to see what happens.

The next two episodes are a mammoth improvement over the last six.

Were new writers hired over the hiatus? Did AMC approve a bigger budget? Because suddenly all the dialogue telling us what we already know about everybody’s feelings is gone.

All the storytelling is moving a lot faster, there are some major plot turns in the next two episodes and there’s plenty of zombie mayhem.

(The series did put at least one new writer in its writers’ room. Episode two is credited to Nichole Beattie, a veteran of “John From Cincinnati,” “Prime Suspect” and “Sons of Anarchy.”)

I’m not permitted to get into the plot at this point, but I can tell you we’re getting an all-new title sequence from which Frank Darabont’s executive producer credit has been scrubbed away.

More after the jump.

It is if you understand what you are getting. The game is not L4D2, it's not action packed, or anything like that. It is a gritty story that you get to interact with.

The choices you make affect you to a point, but the main story is going to happen no matter what. It does put you in some awkward decision making situations, and in chapter 3 there was a point that I thought was pretty poignant. Once you get there, I would love to see what you thought about it.

Altogether, I would say they have been enjoyable, and each episode about 2-3 hours long.

In your situation it is probably worth it. The biggest complaint has been the release dates. The game was sold as a 5 part game with monthly episodes. So far they havent' kept to the monthly releases which has a lot of people angry.

I embedded the first one a few posts above. Didn't realize all four were available.

Just to keep them in one post...

Haven't read the thread. I'm 6 episodes into season 2, is Shane's accent getting thicker? Not enjoying this season as much.
