Jeff Allen being interviewed right now on 810

milkman 04-27-2012 06:08 PM

I would have preferred Osemele, cause I htink he's a better athlete, but Allen should be a hell of a run blocker and a good pass protector at the LG position.

DaKCMan AP 04-27-2012 06:08 PM

Seahawks going for absolute worst draft of 2012.

Mecca 04-27-2012 06:08 PM

I bet Lamar Miller would put up some awesome stats on this team with his big play ability and our scheme.

O.city 04-27-2012 06:08 PM

I like Isiah Pead alot at RB.

Kinda need another all purpose guy. Who is the best all purpose RB left?

Certainly don't hate it, but it's extremely uninspiring.

Not a huge fan of spending all these early picks on OL/DL.

Yeah, my initial reaction was "who", but I guess if there's one area I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, it's interior o-line, after asamoah and hudson. The position (meaning G, I know he played tackle in college) makes sense.

It's certainly not very exciting.

On the flip side, I guess it might kill the conspiracy theory that they were going to draft a WR in the early 2nd so they could ship Bowe (the trade up for Hill gave me some pause...).

Strongside 04-27-2012 06:09 PM

I feel like Will Shields announcing that pick cast some good mojo on Allen.

Strangely enough I have never ever had a Chiefs jersey. Just wear different kinds of gear. Dunno why.

Titty Meat 04-27-2012 06:10 PM

Crick round 3

the Talking Can 04-27-2012 06:10 PM

Quote:

Positives:

Natural bender with outstanding recovery quickness, lateral agility and balance to mirror and sustain — is seldom on the ground or beaten in pass protection. Plays with a very solid base. Throws his hips in the hole and wins with quickness at the snap. Controls defenders with his hands. Is athletic running the field and can connect on the second level. Good football intelligence. Quick learner. Flipped sides and has proven he can play in a left- or right-hand stance. Versatility is a big plus — can play either tackle position and has the quickness to handle movement on the inside. Solid character. Very committed, dedicated approach — has not missed a practice or game. Is a tough, durable, hardworking four-year starter.
Negatives:

Does not look the part — is knock-kneed, fleshy-bodied and pear-shaped. Lacks ideal height and arm length for the outside. Not a nasty finisher or fiery run blocker. Not strong-handed or violent with his punch. Tends to set tall and catches a lot. Undisciplined eyes — late to see and adjust to some stunts. Conditioning has been a concern, and diet might require some additional monitoring.
Summary:

A model of consistency on and off the field, Allen makes the game look easy and is one of the best pure pass protectors in this year’s draft, with unique balance, coordination and agility to warrant late-first-round consideration as a left tackle prospect. Versatility, football smarts and durability could allow him to start immediately and play at a high level for the next 10 years.

I would have figured Osemele as well but I'm very happy with Allen. Just didn't know Allen was a OG option so didn't think about him. Osemele just scared me due to being nixed up all the time, but would have still been good.

Rasputin 04-27-2012 06:11 PM

It was cool to see Will Shields make our selection. That was about the highlight so far of the entire draft. This is an ok pick am sure he should work out just fine. Hope with Will calling the pick gives him extra Mojo.

Boss & Moeaki -- excellent blockers -- Bowe & Breaston -- I'd rate them top 8-10...Winston was the best tackle out there - and you signed him.

I think some of the fans are too hard on Poe -- Have faith in Crennel. He's the teacher. In Memphis, Poe was playing a one thru nine technique.

We obviously need a QB, and I was on the Tannehil bandwagon, but if there weren't so many question marks about Poe, if he was a producer in college, this would look like a pretty good draft to me.

Allen said Jon Asamoah was a mentor for him, particularly when Allen was a freshman. Hopes to lean on Asamoah again during transition.
