Heh - I've had to do that on a bunch of big games.

Biggest one was we got a ride home to KC from NMSU in Kirksville MO in 1988. Well the kid who gave us a ride decided he wanted to drive back at halftime of the KU vs. OK NCAA basketball championship game on Monday night. We spent the whole drive trying to find the game on AM radio stations. But somehow hearing Manning sink those freethrows on the radio made it that much more exciting.

Let’s hope the Pats and Steelers beat the shit out of each other. Tom’s achilles is tender and Bell’s noggin’ is ripe for another concussion. Steelers have played two physical opponents in Cincy and Baltimore in consecutive weeks. They will be hurting. Miami smacked New England in the mouth so they too might have a bit of doubt.

Good time for KC to be finding their stride again....

Dude - we're talking about (until recently) MVP candidate Alex Smith - rallying and taking the Chiefs to a Superbowl win. Which will not happen, but if it does. I could see a team shelling out.

Unlike 2013, 2015 and 2016 - I don't think the Chiefs have any realistic shot at the SB this year. So I'm just hoping for a home playoff win.

They played pretty well, defense held and put pressure on rivers. Could have put up more points, but 30-13 is pretty dominate

suzzer99 12-16-2017 11:06 PM

Can we not lay an egg vs. Miami next week please?

KC_Connection 12-16-2017 11:06 PM

BTW, having now looked at it, Baltimore is probably going to be the #5 seed. They should win the last three and Tenn could lose 1 or 2 games.

Now Chiefs probably still win that 4/5 game and lose to Pitt/NE but that isn't the pushover that Tenn would be.

Yes. This was reported 3 weeks ago.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Matt Nagy on 3rd and 0.5 called for a pass play to Cam Erving in that Jets game.

2013 was doomed

Nah, I don't see it happening that way. No team is that stupid enough to trade him (maybe Cleveland, but I doubt they'll want him.) Winning the SB or not, Alex is more than likely getting traded for a 2nd rounder and a late rounder (because of one year left on contract, not enough value) or getting cut.

The reason he will not be here next year is because of that $18 million contract, and there are some players that the Chiefs will need to use that $18 million on. Here are the following players who's contract expires after the end of this season:

Albert Wilson (obviously needs kept)
Zach Fulton (see above)
Anthony Sherman (debatable)
Benny Logan (Who I don't care much for, let him walk)
Dustin Colquitt (Love the guy, but not going to be paying $5 million for a punter)
Tyler Bray (LOL, release him already)
Phillip Gaines (LOL)
DeAnthony Thomas (eeeehhhhh, let him walk)

There are more but, you get the idea.

I keep seeing this but honestly it's not a horrible call..The defense typically isn't going to expect something like that. However it was covered and the ball should have went somewhere else. That is a throw you only make if Erving is wide ****ing open

I won’t forgive this play. In a game where the Jets were like 13/19 on third down, not converting this was crushing. We needed a half yard. How many times did the Jets just fall forward to pick up a third and short? Miserable.

I'm encouraged by this one...two things in particular.

The defense continues to look better. That's a pretty potent team we just held to 13 points...and it wasn't that silly "bend but don't break" stuff. There was a pass rush, better tackling, and the secondary was effective.

The offensive line was fantastic tonight. The run game, pass protect, all good.

The Pats in Foxboro in January? They’ll eat Bortles alive.

Best case scenario in that situation is that the Jags defense beats Brady and Gronk up a bit before we head in there.

We have no chance against Pitt. They came into our stadium last year, when we had all the momentum, and just dominated us. Then did the same thing this year. Laveon Bell gets 8 yards a run vs. us in his sleep. Rothlisberger could confidently bet his life on a completion to Brown when he really needs it.

No chance? I wouldn't bet on the Chiefs, especially on their field, but they were a holding call from OT last year and a fluke bobble TD from winning this year.

They have a chance vs either. But being on the road, it probably won't happen. Then again, I expect Smith to let it fly if they meet, knowing he's got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Does anyone have a video of the wife of Charges DB knocking people over after jumping onto the field from the stadium rails like some wild-eyed crazed mujahidat during the game?

Security had no idea what she was hiding under an extra big black coat while running across the field in the middle of the play.

Okay, her husband went down while trying to make a tackle - However, he walked off the field and entered the blue tent for further medical examination.

The guy is gone for 24 hours - She did not want to wait for him back in LA? :D

This may be the stupidest thing posted on CP, but ever since we lost to Pittsburgh earlier this season, I've been convinced that we'll end up beating them in the playoffs if we face them. It just seems like they've schemed us the same way twice and beaten us the same way twice. Add the fact that Ragland has helped shore up our run defense and Shazier's being out makes it more difficult to contain Kelce and I think we can throw a whole different look at them.

I really, really hope we get another shot there.

Yep... I think we both said similar things after last week. I want Pittsburgh in January. I fear the Chiefs playing no team when they play as they have the past two weeks. They can beat anyone with that formula.

What gives me so much confidence is that the formula is sustainable. The running game can be successful each week when they keep things simple and just use what works. The line is really starting to gel and defenders just can't/don't want to tackle Kareem Hunt too often.

The passing game gets to play a secondary role, which is perfect for Alex's game. But, again, the OL is protecting him greatly and he has some elite weapons at his disposal to throw to.

And lastly, the defense looks better than it has all year. The pressure up front has been tremendous these two weeks, we've seen those guys really elevate their energy and aggression. The secondary has been nails too, as our CBs look great. Revis isn't giving up much of anything, Peters is making plays, and Nelson and Mitchell have been quiet, in a good way.

This team is dangerous, and peaking at the right time. No one on this board should let any old narratives or naysayers allow them to think otherwise.

The best complete team effort on all 3 phases for all 60 minutes, been a loooong time, shit I really cannot remember last time. So (we are getting hot at the right time)? Yes I hope, but just don't see it. If they can pull off just one of the next two as a complete team win for a full 60 minutes. I might have a little hope for 2 playoff wins.

2017 team has a higher ceiling, but a lower floor. 2013 team never loses to the Giants or Jets. But they never beat the Pats, Eagles, or Chargers
