Appreciate that--unfortunately I'm not able to be there in person. I know I'm fixing to miss out on one hell of an atmosphere and celebration too, the likes of which KC hasn't felt in decades. I have a feeling it's gonna be supremely loud too, which I love.

But I'm really glad to be apart of the CP community where some semblance of that positive energy will permeate through. Whether in Arrowhead, KC metro, any other state, or any other country for that matter--tomorrow is going to be special for anyone who loves the Chiefs and wears their colors proud.

I'm like this, I'm ready to see something my eyes have not seen in 49+ years! That tells you how old I am.

But I am with ya, so is everybody on this site and Chiefs Kingdom. We all, well most of us had Mahomes pegged as an exceptional talent last year. Most of us all knew, just some old fashion NFL games for seasoning and within 2 years we would be where we need to be.

**** NEWSFLASH **** Pat wasn't waiting to get seasoned, he has taken this league by surprise and everybody in the NFL is amazed by it. NOBODY, I REPEAT, NOBODY EXPECTED THIS OUT OF HIM! We are all thrilled to have him!

The only people who are sad are the other 31 NFL teams and their fans!

suzzer99 01-19-2019 11:09 PM

I'm rewatching the Chiefs/Pats regular season game:

First half, Al Michaels: "Yeah as Bill Parcells used to say, let's not get the anointing oil out just yet" (about Mahomes)

3 minutes left, after Mahomes just tied it on a 75-yard bomb to Hill: "Even Bill Parcells might get the anointing oil out after that."

And then Collinsworth: "What the Patriots want to do here, is score a TD with no time left on the clock, and NEVER give it back to Patrick Mahomes until the playoffs."

Heh - the playoffs have arrived.

suzzer99 01-19-2019 11:12 PM

Btw if anyone can find a show called NFL Turning Point that I recorded it somehow - they just did a whole segment on the Colts game, and then the Dee Ford strip sack. I may have came in my pants.

I looked for it on youtube but couldn't find it.

You hear these words a lot when you ask people about Arrowhead: loudest I’ve ever heard. That was, literally, by design. The stadium included no cut-outs, with relatively small walkways from the concourse to inside. The noise is trapped inside. The seats slope up at a higher angle than most stadiums, and the rows are an inch tighter than is now allowed.

Haven't been this positive about this team ever. I was so ready to see Brady lose his GOAT anointed title a long long time ago. Tomorrow proves to everyone that he no longer owns it.

After all these years, I'm nervous. Can't help it - even though I think we not only win, but totally dominate. Tomorrow and probably for years to come.

After this year all the best players everywhere will want to play with Mahomes. Awesome time to be a Chiefs fan!!!!

Not going to happen...the NFL wants the Patriots to lose as much as the billion people waiting to watch the Superbowl.

Mahomes is their money maker now...enjoy tomorrow...going to be epic.

Athletically gifted does not do him justice.

Mahomes was drafted in the 37th round by the Detroit Tigers but his draft stock was depressed since baseball teams knew he was more interested in football. If he committed 100% to baseball, some have suggested Mahomes could have gone as high as the 3rd or 4th round which seems possible given that he has a very strong arm and is the son of a MLB pitcher. Those rounds historically have led to players having about a 1/3 chance of ever playing MLB and some of the players it is just a brief cup of coffee. Still very impressive for any NFL QB. Baseball since it is such a skill based game is kind of hard to project who is going to make it.

Based upon the videos I have watched, I agree with some pundits that he would have been able to play D1 basketball if he concentrated full-time on that sport. Probably lower tier 1 ball and not playing at those basketball factories but impressive nevertheless considering basketball doesn't usually take advantage of his rocket arm. As chief fans must know their is a cool video of him as a youngster winning a basketball game by heaving the ball like a baseball.

From my vantage point, Tyreek Hill deserves to be called the best athlete on the Chiefs. Frankly, I'd be surprised if their are many players in the NFL that are better athletes than Hill. Hill is one of the few NFL players with true world class speed so he is the Chief player that scares me the most in this particular game considering he is capable to turning a short catch into a touchdown and also capable of returning a punt for a touchdown. I looked it up and in his brief NFL career, he has already returned 4 punts for touchdowns. And I suspect he is one of those players that has teams changing how they punt.

If Dan Shaughnessy was playing for or coaching the Patriots, a sizable percentage of Patriots fans would root for the Chiefs. He is not really liked at all by people who grew up reading the Globe.

There is a play in that game where the defender lands on Mahomes' legs that made me sick to my stomach when I watched the game a second time. I thought about all the injuries from across the league, and I think Mahomes staying as healthy as he is must be a sign from the Football Gods.

The Chiefs for a decade seemed to keep drafting speedy returner/scatback types. We had Dexter McCluster (who suuuuucked), then D'Anthony Thomas (better but always injured), then Hill - and probably some others I'm forgetting.

Hill was a running back in college and IIRC no one here had super high expectations of him over those other two. But holy crap that first season he retuned a ton of punts/kicks - but even more than that he caught everything that was thrown at him. You could just throw it in his direction, at any speed, and he'd somehow come down with it. He caught a ball in our big comeback against Denver while he was literally being jacked up by the defender. I was like - why was this dude a running back in college?

I think one thing fans of any pro sport do is tend to assume a star player would have emerged no matter what situation they were drafted into. But I give a lot of credit to Reid for pushing Hill into the WR role and working so hard with him to figure it out.

Who knows - if Hill is drafted by some other team he may not have turned into a top 5 WR and the second most valuable player on a team with the league MVP.

The thought of Mahomes getting injured is basically like the thought of one of your kids getting abducted - unspeakable.

Btw I'm watching the Rams game now and holy crap - there were a couple bad calls but our defense really did suck. Most of the calls seem legit. Sooooo glad Scandrick is off the field.
