I really hope Alex Smith continues to develop the lacking parts of his game and learns to go for the throat when he needs to.
I hate being pessimistic and want to homer up like some of you here, but I've been sold the snake oil too many times... |

Do me a favor when you get there, will ya? Tell omahacolt that Matt Cassel still isn't a franchise quarterback. |

But this hissy fit isnt helping, you cant move mountains in a day... take the night off and come back aware of the fact that your strong opinion probably isnt changing any minds and just have fun with it. Good night... |

KC was in a strange/unlucky spot when they bottomed out. The team was not lacking in some great talent. 49ers young core players back when they had the #1 pick. Complete busts Kwame Harris Brandon Lloyd *Got a 3rd round pick for him. Never seemed commited. Got his money from WAS and proved that. Bursts back onto the scene in 2010. Derrick Hamilton Rashaun Woods Justin Smiley *OK OG I guess. MIA signed him in 08 Shawntae Spencer *OK CB Anthony Adams *OK player I guess, hard to tell with inside DL Andre Carter *Pro bowl, production drops, hurt, then moved to 3-4, not good, Leaves vis FA. Eric Johnson *always hurt, married Jessica Simpson Kevan Barlow *2 more years then out of the NFL Mike Rumph Julian Peterson *Franchise tag in 04. Achilles tear. Meh 05, Leaves vis FA 49ers in 2005 had no option other than a project QB and rebuild. |
I wonder how things would have been different if the 49ers had taken Aaron Rodgers first overall and Alex Smith fell to the Packers and sat behind Favre for 3 years.

Also, I love it when n00bs come here (a site with thousands of differing opinions that is loosely moderated) and get all butthurt right away when a few people have a different perspective towards the team than them.
I can picture this mattchiefs guy typing a lot of words thinking to himself while he types "yeah, they are gonna offer me their wives and daughters for the greatness of my individual perspective" and then they hit submit and get blasted back to the stoneages by fans of the same team that don't see things the exact same way as him. It must be heart breaking for some of these guys. |

What's more likely?
The guy who has raised checking the ball down and leading average scoring offenses to an art form wins a Super Bowl, or the talented kid who is improving by leaps and bounds every game and has three fourth quarter comebacks in five games does it? Hmmmmm. |
