Nah, it doesn't hurt the database in any way if that's what you're asking.
To me, there are three types of bumps:
Bumping a thread on a related topic to post additional information. In general, I dislike these because I wish people would just post a new thread, but many seem hesitant to start threads these days.
Bumping an old thread because it's interesting to look back at opinions from years ago. These are usually in good fun and are interesting for the most part.
Bumping dozens of threads all at once to flood the front page with outdated bullshit. These are completely obnoxious and will likely get you banned.
I can't really say what the situation was at the time this thread was created. Phobia certainly had strong opinions about some things. I'm guessing it was some combination of #2 and #3.
