It sucks ass, I cant do shit yet. I bet I put on 5 lbs this week.

Give it lots of time. When I did mine it was feeling pretty good....until I tweaked it.

Ok - I never crashed - I actually went ahead and worked out - I'm still a little tentative - I'm hoping maybe another week I can workout to gain versus simply just maintaining, like I have been now.

You're a champ running in that shit.

Yea the weather started getting hairy towards the end. A lot of people didn't get to finish.

I managed to finish it running the last 11 miles on a jacked hamstring.

Paying for it now.

Way too low of a heal for those squatting Oly style with high bar, close stance and ATG. Those simply won't work.

I'm also not sure what those heals are composed of? If it's not a really hard surface like wood, you loose too much kinetic energy to bounce the bottom of the squat like Oly lifting.

It's to hit below parallel depth, helps the hips track in a more normal pattern and obviously are used for those doing Clean and Jerks and Snatches, which also require you to squat in the same shoe you do the Olympic lifts with (carryover). It allows the knees to track OVER the toes to hit appropriate depth and super deep. AND YES, your ****ing knees can travel plenty past your toes. It's a bullshit lie that knees past toes on squats is dangerous.

If you can't get a raised heal/hard healed shoe to squat in, flat Converse shoes are your next best option but your squat pattern would more likely be low bar which is a different bar path and likely wider foot position, more powerlifting like. Find out what works for you and go with it.

Thanks. Im gonna stick with the beat up VS's until rogue has my size for the do-win's. I just picked up Jim W's newish book, Beyond 5/3/1 and started it this past monday. I decided to switch to sumo deads for a couple cycles as I hear its a bit better for taller lifters. What a mind **** that was. I pulled 575 for a triple 3 weeks ago, switched to sumo and could only work up to 420. Got a lotta work to do. :thumb:

I've officially lost 50 lbs as of today.
I also rowed the 500m in 1:56.7, which is a new personal best for me. Still trying to get that 1000m in under 4:00 (best is 4:00.4).

Anyway, my weight loss journey has turned into a getting fit journey. I've discovered so much about myself. I can do things I never dreamed I'd be able to do. I can't even begin to imagine what I'll be able to do once I hit my ultimate goals.

Congrats!

I use indoor soccer shoes personally. They're flat as **** and not squishy.

Are there any issues with squating in skate shoes like DCs? I'd wear chucks but I've got fat feet and they just pour out over the top.

Has anyone added inches to their waist by building up their abs?

As you can probably image from the question my waist has gained close to an inch in the last 3 months and my body fat percentage is actually down. Or I'm just bloated today.

your bloated. usually waist & above the kidney area is where you store fat first, and lost it last. Body likes to work from the outside limbs in when leaning out. I always see it in my arms and legs before lower abs start to pop in.

I used chucks with low bar wide(er) stance squating, or deadlifting. I imagine the DC's are just as good for that. Anything close(er) stance I would use a heeled shoe meant for squatting. I also use Asic's Mattflex wrestling shoes for deadlifting now.

You should probably go sit on the toilet.

Depends on how thick the soles are. If they're really compressible, that's not so good.
