If the game gets out of hand, I still love to watch it because I love basketball. A lot of players flash potential in the blowout games that just gets me excited as shit. And conference is always tough. Teams have put their best games together for KU, and have for a long time. Everybody wants to be the one to topple the giant. There will be tough games. KSU would sell their mothers to prostitution rings to beat KU, ISU still puts together big games, We never play all that well against UT, OSU has some weapons and that is almost always a game we sleep walk through. OU looked shitty early on, but I don't know what they have now. And we still have to go to Baylor. There are a lot of potentially good games. |
Ben McLemore shot around at practice today. He will go full speed tomorrow at practice. Should be good to go on Saturday vs. Texas #kubball

Because the BIG12 sucks this year. Not that Wisconsin is that good. |
Wisconsin IS actually pretty good. They aren't pretty to watch but they are good at what they do imo.

It's good to be King.
Kansas' McLemore Named to The Sporting News Mid-Season All-America Team McLemore is second in the Big 12 with a 16.4 ppg average Jan. 16, 2013 LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas redshirt freshman Ben McLemore has been named to the Sporting News Mid-Season All-America First Team it was announced Tuesday. McLemore is joined on the first team by Oklahoma State freshman Marcus Smart, Michigan sophomore Trey Burke, Creighton junior Doug McDermott and Duke senior Mason Plumlee. A 6-foot-5, guard from St. Louis, McLemore ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring at 16.4 points per game and with an 87.7 free throw percentage. He has five games of 20 points or more including 22 in KU’s victory at Ohio State (Dec. 22) and 33 in Kansas’ overtime win against Iowa State on Jan. 9. His 33-point effort is the most scored by a Big 12 player this season and the most by a Kansas freshman since All-American Danny Manning scored 35 against Oklahoma State in 1985. Sporting News reporter Mike DeCourcy wrote this about McLemore: “It has taken some prompting to get McLemore to understand how important he is to the offense. The nature of the KU system does not put the ball in his hands a ton, so he has to look to score when he gets it. He has gone through eight games with single-digit shot attempts, which is a lot for a player who clearly is his team’s best scorer. He has made the difference when necessary, though: in a tough road game at Ohio State, in a closer-than imagined overtime home win over Iowa State.” On Monday, McLemore was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for his performance against Iowa State. He became the first player this season to earn both Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week accolades. No. 4/4 Kansas continues Big 12 action and will play at Texas Saturday, Jan. 19, at 1 p.m. (Central) on CBS. http://www.kuathletics.com/sports/m-...011613aaa.html |
IT IS NOT MY FAULT
But..... Scott City is playing Wichita North. Frankamp stole the ball and dude tries to get in front of him and completely underestimated his quickness. Frankamp went up to dunk, missed and came down on his head. My buddy is there and said there is lots of blood and probably concussed. |

Gonna be a fun day at work.
80% of my office are KSU grads. That said...could be a long day tomorrow if KU doesn't perform well... RCJH |
Somebody on phog.net opened a discussion on defensive matchups in the game tonight. One of the possibilities is McLemore being covered by Spradling.
Oh, lordy... I just don't see that going well for the 'Cats. |
They're going to double McLemore and force EJ, Withey and Releford take the load.

I wish they'd slide EJ over to the 2 and have Tharpe run the point....problem is Tharpe turns the damn ball over alot.
This team needs a good PG. But they're making due w/ a combo guard that's probably more suited for a 2 role. |

It's a personnel thing, not a turnover thing. |
Let's do the damn thing!

game is going to be U-G-L-Y ... both teams are sloppy and often can't shoot worth a shit, flip a coin.
KU has a lot more talent but the inability to shoot makes every game a struggle. Focus/effort lapses have become a habit the last few years for KU so they could lose. If KU is focused and finds their shooting then it's a blowout for KU ... that goes for just about every KU game though. |
KU has scored in the 60's in 4 of the last 5 games...seems like they're due for a breakout...
|
Is it nationally televised?

And since it is not an ESPN game, I’m sure it will get buried in ESPN’s coverage.
#3 at #11, and we will get 2 highlights stuck somewhere between the Lakers and Ray Lewis. |

Many not fortunate enough to be among the 12,528 stuffed into Bramlage Coliseum for tonight’s Sunflower Showdown between Kansas and Kansas State will find the game on TV, only it won’t be televised by the usual destinations for showcase Big 12 basketball games, ESPN or CBS.
The game, which tips off at 7 p.m., is part of the Big 12 Network, which is aired on stations in most major markets, including KMCI-TV, Channel 38, in Kansas City. Shouldn’t this game get the maximum exposure, a Big Monday on ESPN or a Saturday afternoon on CBS? In most years, a game between the league’s two highest ranked teams — Kansas is third in the Associated Press poll, the Wildcats 11th — would get that treatment. But a few things occurred for this game to land where it did on the calendar and dial. Games for television are assigned in July. KU at K-State is typically great theater in any year, but the uncertainty of the Wildcats’ strength likely played a role in keeping it off Big Monday and the major networks. Kansas State was picked to finish fifth in the preseason Big 12 poll. Also, Kansas is the league’s top draw most years and ESPN likes the Jayhawks on the road for Big Monday: A better chance of upset drama. Putting this KU-K-State game on Big Monday would have given KU three Big Monday road games this season. It has happened before, but it’s not a preferable situation. The most important factor is the Big 12 Network needs quality inventory to sell the entire package. Usually, the best matchups are snapped up by CBS, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. But the league wants all of its games on television, and the Big 12 Network completes the picture by carrying 32 games. Having the occasional high-quality matchup helps the Big 12, through its agreement with ESPN Regional Television, sell its product in markets throughout the nation. Nine TCU league games are televised by the Big 12 Network, but so are four Kansas games, including tonight's. “If you’re an affiliate in Kansas City and you’re going to get four Kansas and five Kansas State games over the course of nine weeks, you’re more willing to accept the entire package,” said Big 12 senior associate commissioner Tim Allen. “It helps us build the Big 12 Network.” Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/2013/01/22...#storylink=cpy |
KSU ranked #11 just makes me laugh. And they may beat Kansas tonight. But outside of McGruder I see no talent on that team. KSU is a team to me that always perennially looks like dog shit but some how wins games. Probably just the hard nosed Frank Martin and Bob Huggins coaching. Maybe they play differently this year.

If we play our A or B game tonight, this will be a double-digit laugher
|
I thought tonight's game as in Lawrence?

I have a feeling that KSU is going to get a lot of slop to go in the hoop tonight. Having said that, when it does, I still think KU has a great shot to win. Go hawks!

Plow is right, Laz cant make a halfway positive comment without qualifying it with negativity. Even if we win by 30, he bitches that we could have won by 50. KU's offense has been and will be fine. We've played familiar teams with good coaches who know Self's tendencies. And Im not just saying that because of Mr. Plow's handy-fest Saturday. BTW, thanks big guy, but you need to moisturize. |

Every fanbase needs it's share of ballwashing homers, i've just never developed a taste for the nutsack myself. NTTIAWWT I just hope that KU shoots better against KSU or it's going to be a struggle. but hey, i'm just a debbie downer ... what do i know. |
Hey are we not doing *******Official Game Threads******** for our local college rivalry games anymore? Actually thinking about it I haven't seen one here in a long time. New rule?

KU usually comes to play in big road games, so I'm hoping tonight will be no different. They'll need to actually bring the effort throughout to win.
As usual, KSU is all about offensive rebounding. If you limit them in that area, you'll probably win. That might be difficult for this particular KU team, though. |
Jack Harry still exist? Who knew

Missed bunny - 1.

oh FFS espn3 doesn't work for me and my only link to the game is a KState audio fee off 810 am. This sucks.

If any of you have the YES network, the game can be found there.

Lucky K-Staters get Spradling for one more year.
