It’s kind of alarming that this board seemed to know this defense was garbage months before the actual team did.

You'd have had to be a total mouth breather to not look at that secondary and react with...danger will robinson danger!

They knew. They just didn't expect Mahomes to perform at an MVP level right out of the gate. Expected another year of rebuilding before we were truly ready to compete, I think.

I dont think it means anything cuz that's his thing now...Once I figured out some of my college professors were total dipshits, I used to skip class all the time but show up for the exams. It worked out great!

That was a planned thing.

I think this is the same situation we had with Marcus Peters last year. Lots of drama during the year, and then nothing.

I'll bet Veach went to Peters and promised him he'd trade him, but told him to be a team player and go through the motions to keep the trade value as high as possible.

Hog's Gone Fishin 09-27-2018 07:33 AM

I'm quite sure management doesn't like ET missing practice. It sends a signal to the younger players that it's not important. They should consider trading him.

Sassy Squatch 09-27-2018 08:22 AM

Something else to chew on here: is Reid really going to bring Earl Thomas in here knowing how disruptive he's currently being and the well known animosity between Russell Wilson and the Seahawks defense? Situations aren't close to being the same but if it's true part of the reason Peters is gone is because of animosity between him and Mahomes, we might not want to invest enough money and draft capital to get him here.

This is not something else to chew on. You have been chewing on your main thesis, which is Thomas has a bad attitude and will be a problem, for days. You are just massaging your approach a bit tying his antics to possible other things now.

Again, Thomas was a model player, and a locker room guy, until Seattle started screwing him over. The details of what occurred have been discussed at length in this thread so I'm not going over them again.

Okay. Stick your head in the sand and pretend it won't matter to the Chiefs organization.

Mecca 09-27-2018 08:34 AM

I doubt that matters at all, Sherman was a big issue with Wilson but Thomas is barely even mentioned in that article.

The resentment the Seattle defense had for Wilson had to do with him getting credit for them carrying the team, it's a totally different situation.

O.city 09-27-2018 08:35 AM

It won't IF he can play at a Pro Bowl Level. You mentioned Peters earlier as an example - Difference between he and Peters is that trouble followed Peters wherever he went. That's not the case with Thomas.

Again, I get your point. You're entitled to it. I just respectfully disagree.

So I guess we don't have to worry about that in KC. The defense knows Pat is carrying the team, lol

Please don't be ugly - as Dane McCloud is a friend of mine. But he sent me this, yesterday around 6PM Eastern - FWIW

Part of the email -->> Take this with a grain of salt but an agent friend of mine texted me last night that word is that the Chiefs have agreed to give the Seahawks a 2019 2nd round pick and a 2019 5th round pick for Earl Thomas. Now, they're supposedly working with Earl's agent on an extension and deal. If that can't get done, the trade won't happen, I'm told. Anyway, I just thought I'd pass it along.

Have a great day and Go Chiefs!

I'm not saying they wouldn't love to have him. I'm just saying with circumstances being the way they are do they want him enough to pay a kings ransom of draft picks and money? I personally don't think so.

So this agent friend repeated exactly what I have been posting for days- a 2nd round this year and a 5th next year?

Are you sure Dbag dane is not just reading my post and creating an "agent friend" instead of posting that he agrees this is adequate compensation for ET?

I have a very solid source that says Thomas was in KC on Tuesday for a physical. Seattle asking for a 1st rounder plus a player to go with. Thomas wants extension 4 years asking 12 mil per. Nobody has really reported this yet.

I would hate to lose two picks this year, but for ET is would probably be worth it. Veech has the tendency to burn picks moving up, so once again it would be a very skimpy draft.

The Seahawks could have given him permission to negotiate, which would allow him to do things like take a physical, while they're also negotiating terms on the trade. It's certainly possible.

That being said, him being in KC for a physical mid-week isn't at all likely I don't think.

LMAO Earl Thomas doesn't guarantee us a Super Bowl, just like not trading for him doesn't mean we have no chance.

48 more million tied up in the Saftey position. Earl and Eric better be worth it.

We didn't get a 1st rounder for Peters, we wouldn't even give up a 1st for Alex- so I don't see this happening at all. We need that 1st Rounder for Fatty to protect Mahomes or a CB to replace Scrandrip.

I'd think every thing would have to be agreed to in principle before the physical. The physical would just be a contingency to the agreements. His agent certainly wouldn't agree to a physical if there wasn't a contract on the line.

If Earl Thomas had been to Kansas City, SOMEONE would have seen it and taken an actual photo of him.

They could have been super secretive about it, but yeah, someone with too much time on their hands would've sniffed it out.

I think a 2nd + Spencer Ware will end up being the deal.

Because they didn't just draft a RB in the 1st round?

Why would they want Spencer Ware with a year left on his deal?

Earl Thomas for Patrick Mahomes. Who says no?

Wut? RB might be the only position they don't need help at. Penny and Carlson.

Wasn't Ware released by the Seahawks before we picked him up?

True, but Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist didn’t guarantee a World Series but they ended up putting us over the top. I’m in the camp of, its far better to have gambled and lost, than having never taken the chance. This entire thread is about two sides. Those who want to gamble and try and buy a Super Bowl this year and those that want to wait. As for me, I’m tired of waiting.

You need more than one RB.

The 2nd is the prime real estate in this deal. Ware's the sweetener.
