I actually figured the portal would be great for Self.

He used to seem like he knew the opponent better than they knew themselves. He was also pretty ruthless but diplomatic about recruiting over guys and talking them into leaving.

I figured that would lead to Self finding diamonds in the rough from other programs while constantly trimming the fat from his own.

Oddly enough seems like the opposite has happened.
