This might be the best I’ve ever taken a KU tourney loss.
The team was going nowhere even with a win. Wasn’t a major upset. Wasn’t a blowout. We get to move on.
Most painful KU losses of my conscious life ranked:
1. Syracuse 2003. Win and your champs. 3 point loss on 12-30 from the line.
2. VCU 2011. The field was wide open that year. Inexcusable loss to a team that barely made the tourney.
3. Northern Iowa 2010. Way too much talent on that team to lose so early. Really bad draw too.
4. Villanova 2016. The Graham foul still pisses me off. Ellis goes out on a total dud. Choked away a lead. That team could’ve won it all.
5. The Entire Tournament 2020. We can only imagine what could’ve been. One of the best KU teams ever has it ripped away. I bet Dayton fans take that one worse though.

Yeah, that Syracuse loss hurt... everyone assumed they'd play Texas and when that didn't happened, every fiber of my being assumed KU was winning the NC.
Think I was more shocked by VCU than anything, I'd personally probably flip them with UNI.
I'd actually lean towards saying losing to UK in the NC game was the least I've cared about a tournament loss... it's been inevitable the past couple seasons, gave no ****s. However, on top of that it felt like an obligation to watch as I've been making it less and less of a priority.
That run years ago though, pulling a few games out of their ass, beating UNC in the tournament again, and then going up against an NBA team in the finals.... I opened a Boulevard Bourbon Barrel Quad and that game was as 'house money' as it'll ever get.
At least I enjoyed watching them get to that point... enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm basically relieved this shit is over, which I'd say is worse.
