I was down on Traylor before but thought he gave some quality minutes last night. Do you just want to throw that in my face and call it good?

I TOLD YOU HE COULD COME IN AND BE SERVICEABLE IF EVERYONE ELSE FOULED OUT!

It's not over though... oh no.

Self spoke to the Journal-World about the tweets after Wednesday’s win at OSU.

“He is frustrated,” Self said of the player who has not played much this season. “He didn’t have a great shootaround today. I talked to him about it (tweets). I’m disappointed he’d say (tweet) anything negative. He will not be doing anything negative in the future or he won’t be around. I read them. They were not the best in the world; they were not the worst, either.”

They had a nice stat in last night's game... KU has a +15 point differential in the paint this season, and it was +18 vs OSU, and IIRC, that was maybe halfway through the 2nd half. So, would you rather give up 15 more points in the paint and not have the #1 FG% defense in the country, or give up a few open looks beyond the arc?

(Maybe KCC could do some kenpom magic and see where that ranks... if they showed it, I missed it.)

I thought we went over this just yesterday. Rerun should try reading back a few pages.

Anyway, to hopefully conclude this series, here are my opinions in bullet points.

- The offense is largely in control of the quality of 3-point shots it takes.
- These decisions are affected by the quality of the opposing 2P% defense
- 3P% is also influenced by effective challenging of shots.
- All of that can add up to about a 3% swing from average.
- So 3P% defense is not totally random
- But a defense has considerably more direct impact on 2P% than 3P%.
KU is the best at 2P% defense in the country and has been by far over the last five years. That basically means that they're the best at what they can fully control. Having that good 2P% defense also leads to better 3P% defense (because keeping teams out of the paint can often lead to difficult low percentage shots that they don't want to take, which is a pretty intuitive effect). While 3P% defense is largely random, this effect has still led KU to have the 7th best 3P% defense in the last 5 years.

So basically, nobody should be complaining about the team's defense. Doing so is ridiculous. It's a tremendous strength, not a weakness in any way, shape, or form.

So, we can't presume that he'll be good, but you can presume that he will always suck.

You are a giant pile of douchebaggery.

Imon Yourside 02-21-2013 06:01 PM

Anyone bitching about Ellis never saw Chenowith play.

You aren't too bright, are you? I said, quote, "he may or may not be good one day"

I can teach you how to read if this is proving to difficult for your little pea brain.

I'm plenty bright. You just have a short-term memory problem:

He sucks so bad I can't even believe how bad he sucks. I've never, ever, been more disappointed with a player in almost 40 years of watching KU basketball. He was so overhyped it's not funny - altho some recruiting analysts did warn us all he has no athleticism. They were dead on.

But yeah, you've got a TOTALLY open mind about him. ****wad.

Mr_Tomahawk 02-21-2013 06:16 PM

So what do we win by on Saturday?

When someone says, "May or may not", that means something differently than you think it does. But one thing we can both agree on: I'm 110% correct that he sucks horribly as of now.

You're just backtracking on what you said earlier.

Look, you're entitled to your opinion. That's fine. And you're right that he isn't very good right now.

But belittling a Kansas KID, who is obviously trying, even though he is failing, all the while proclaiming to be a "real" fan is completely disingenuous. And it makes you a piece of shit fan.

I mean, you called an 18 year old kid who's just trying to play a game a "piece of shit." The **** is wrong with you??

Teams run alot of Euro principles against KU and screen and roll trying to get everyone out of the paint and running around screens.

Seems Self and co. just say "well, we're staying in the middle and make you make shots to beat us while we defend best we can out there

This is what scares me a little bit about this KU squad. All it will take in the tournament is for a team to get hot from outside shooting. Mclemore yesterday didn't look like he even wanted the ball late in the game yesterday.

Last year, I feel like KU could grind away with solid post play and a few good shooters to keep you in the game, and then in the second half they'd bury you. This year, I don't know... There's something missing. I really want to see Mclemore play with a mean streak in the tourney. He has to. And I wish they had just a little more offensive firepower in the low post.

Well, dunno if you've watched, but thats usually how they've been beat in the tourney.

McLemore was really tentative yesterday, not sure if the moment was a little to big or what. Early he was aggressive just missed shots and seemed to go into a shell.

They didn't have any better shooters last year than this year. Actually probably better perimeter shooters this year, but obviously not as much low post presence on offense.

One of the reasons we need Ellis to come around, which is furiously being discussed in this thread, and/or Traylor to keep coming strong.
