My day sucked as well Inmem.

Fired up the car to start my day. Realize the garage door went up about 3 inches and stopped. Hit the button a few more times. Down to bottom and back up to 3 inches.....Stop.

I get out of the car and look up. The entire end of the spring had snapped off and was separated a good few inches from the main spring. Awesome. Tried to lift the door up so I could get my car out. The metal guide wire on the right side of the door then became loose and I had to set the door down gently and now it was completely crooked and I thought it might fall on my car. This was after my wife told me I would be an idiot to try and lift that door up as things were "obviously" loose and it could fall on me.

Guy came out to fix it and had to replace spring and bearings in door.

You should have lifted it evenly.

I have a door that is ten feet wide and 16 feet tall that broke a spring overnight this winter. Took five days to get it. I had to lift that thing many times. Heavy mother ****er.

Then I had to hold it up with one hand and shove a bolt through the track to keep it up.

I was glad to get the spring fixed and the opener back on it.

Dang dude. Did you have renter's insurance while living there?

And no on the ice. Fill an 8oz cocktail glass and keep that drink neat. You're gonna want that high 120 proof to kick your ass quick!

Yes we did, but they cancelled it on us without notification. We had to have it if we used charcoal, that's pretty much the only reason why we had it.

They cancelled it on you? Meaning you didn't have it when the incident took place?

We had ours through State Farm when we had renter's insurance.

Oh I could lift it.

I think evenly was my problem.

Sorry, not versed in garage door opening.

Door was fixed by noon today.

Holy shit! Now I understand.

I had a grill fire once on my deck once - if I hadn't owned a fire extinguisher and been able to put it out right away, this could have been me.

And a word of advice to everybody - if you don't have a fire extinguisher in your house, ****ing get one.

Correct, if I would have known they cancelled it on us I would have never lit up my smoker.

That whole situation sucks, man. I hope you can reach some sort of settlement with them.
