Apparently, he's really on a one year deal. They can cut him after this season without any cap implications.

Not true Daniel can void the deal if he throws for 2k yards.

He will if Alex Smith gets injured again.

Because all of those guys have,

In this day and age? Yeah, I don't think it's too difficult.

Keep in mind, the starter before Schaub was Carr, so the bar wasn't exactly set too high. And IIRC, Steve Bartowski was the franchise passing holder in Atlanta and while I loved me some Bartowski back in the day, the game simply didn't have the relaxed rules that QB's today enjoy.

****kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk if Chase has to throw 2000 yards for this team, this place will explode

I agree, there is some amount of risk involved by trading for Alex Smith. But knowing that the fans that purchase the tickets and jerseys and pay for parking, etc. are fed up with the pure shit that ***** (and Herm before him) have been trotting on the field for the better part of six seasons, they've chosen to put a respectable team on the field in 2013.

Personally, I don't believe that means the Chiefs will continue to pass on first round or second QB's, at all. I just think it means that they don't want to further test fan's patience by telling them "Hey, we're going with a rookie QB this year. Hang on for the ride. Thanks for another 2-3 years of your patience".

I just don't think that was going to fly. And I truly believe that the Hunt Family were tired of the perception of their franchise in league circles.

That's fine. I get Alex Smith for this year, but if we are honest we know that likely the Chiefs won't have a chance to draft a QB that will be rated as high as Geno unless we give up the farm in a trade, right?

I would think most people now know Geno is going top 5 and most likely we'll be in the 15-20 range for the next few years. I know Phil pointed out the other later 1st round picks have had success, but this is a different time with the new CBA and emphasis on passing/scoring so the guys that used to be there won't be.

People can talk about whoever they want in the next draft, but odds are we won't be in a position to take a guy that is as good of a prospect as Geno and that is where the frustation comes in.

I don't think they'll take a QB in the second or third rounds this year, unless they continue to deal in the first and pick up multiple 2nd rounders. And even then, they have plenty of holes to fill, even with the recent signings. Depth is needed just about everywhere.

I think it's far more reasonable to expect that they select someone next year.

What is the Geno crowd gonna say when he sucks in the NFL?

Same thing we said when Sanchez sucked.

What is everyone going to say when Alex Smith throws for 200 yards a game and Geno Smith is out there lighting it up?

What about the other two guys?

You're basically saying Alex Smith is going to come here and throw for 4500 yards and 30 TDs (at least).

Comfortable making that statement?

I think the Chiefs made this trade believing that they've not only acquired a starter in 2013 (and likely, 2014) but that they'll have an opportunity to accumulate picks, which could go towards moving up in 2014.

I think it's very likely that Buffalo will trade up for Geno. I'd give a 65-35 chance today and I'll bet it continues to escalate the closer we get to draft day.

Catching up: CB Sean Smith's deal with KC included $12m in guarantees, not $11m. So there.

The only thing I like about this is we didn't give him a huge deal.

It's sensible, at the very least, in that we can get out from under it in a year when we need to replace him.

As long as he does better than 1 touchdown and 11 INTs, his career will have started 100% better than Alex Smith's.

That Reid has a better eye for quarterbacks than the hive mind of CP.

Also, I'd like to point out that Reid/Dorsey are not just passing on Geno...they are making a statement that they like a career game manager better than ANY QUARTERBACK IN THIS CLASS.
