What else do we have to go on, or what's more predictive?

Him at central michigan or at the senior bowl, or him week in week out against the best players

We'll learn a lot about Fisher this season.

How is this suggestion for a bit of fun, missing any point? Just an idea.

It's too early to JUDGE Fisher even this year. Year 3 is more fair.

But let's be clear, we're not JUDGING Fisher. We're concerned about his performance in the coming year. And the only evidence we have to date isn't great...

Dontari Poe wasn't physically ready either until he went on an extreme diet and had a real nfl offseason.

Ah, there's the age old "you're not a GM, how could you know" straw man we all know and love...

Might as well shut the board down. None of us are GMs, so there's nothing to discuss.

Fisher wasn't a shitty pick because he didn't make the Pro Bowl his rookie year.

I've talked on this board until I'm blue in the face about why he was a shitty pick. And I'm sick of spending 10-15 minutes multiple times per month explaining to people why. A bunch of posters are already doing that right now.

And this year they are tyring to be smart in order to keep a competitive product on the field for the foreseeable future. I think it was widely believed that Fisher or Joeckel were the best available players and Dorsey picked one of them up to better strengthen his team. Because Fisher isn't all what we want him to be now, doesn't make my stance on Dorsey's direction for the team "mutually exclusive". So far, he's doing a pretty decent job.

So basically, you're ok with whatever they do.

He started that thread in August of 2008.

Aaron Rodgers had played in 7 games at that point. If anything, it makes DeBerg look like ****ing Nostradamus...

Yea, It appears I started that thread right before his first season of starting. I initially started it to have some discussion about the value of drafting a QB. I will admit to bumping it quite a bit to "chest thump" after Rodgers blew up. :). But just for fun to get a reaction.

Then feel free to not enlighten us and waste your precious time. It was just a suggestion using the premise that "if you draft someone 1.1, there should be a reasonable expectation that that player should be among the best in the league" Nothing more. Settle down.

That's not an expectation that needs to be justified.

If you pick a guy top 5, like Eric Berry, you should reasonably expect him to be a well-above average player, like Eric Berry.

Having him turn out to be Tyson Jackson isn't, and shouldn't be, acceptable.

Fisher will be a beast this season.

Fisher and Joeckel were the safest and most conservative picks out of a shitty crop.
