Back in the mid 1960's my mom used to beat my sisters and me across the back of the thighs with a sawed off cane fishing pole or those bamboo tomato plant stakes. Hurt like a son of a bitch, raised welts and left black and blue marks. Now she'd go to jail. Should have gone to jail in 1960, but back then nobody gave a shit what parents did to their kids.

I guess an issue here is what's Peterson's history in regards to disciplining his children. Is this is a one time incident of discipline gone awry or is this an on going thing? I don't have all the facts but unless there's a history of abusing his children I don't think he should be abused by the system. I don't think this is a situation where he should lose his livelihood. He needs to be on probation and attend some parenting classes. With that said if there is a history of child abuse depending upon the history then I might see it different.

Leaving the physical punishment of your kids to a stranger at his discretion is not a choice I'd make. But to each their own.

Allegedly they have a "whooping room" and the kid was scared to say anything so he didn't get punched in the face.

The belt and toy race track piece were the most painful. The fly swatter just hurt my feelings.

That little plastic rod that you use to open and close your mini blinds works well too.

For me that was mom and dads bedroom at the end of the hall. I was told to go back there wait and dad would be there in a minute. The waiting was worse then the whipping which was with a belt. I was givien a choice once of being grounded or whipped. I took upon myself to just go fetch the belt.

If it's any consolation, CP, I followed three different threads in three different forums on this subject and they all went to hell in a hand basket.

This topic is a lightening rod for insanity.

Sounds like a jaded woman and her greedy lawyer. Interesting how this and the Hardy situation all come up after the 2nd half of Rice video goes public. Not really though. All roads lead to Rome and where our society is headed. Guarantee you jaded gold digging past lovers of celebrities of any type are making a bee line down the street to Leisure Suit Larry the Lawyer for "their piece of the pie". :thumb:

Stay tuned because I assure you there is more to come all across the board from the celebrity world of entertainment on domestic issues:popcorn:

Congrats to Peterson for disciplining his kid BUT there is a price to be paid when....

ClevelandBronco 09-13-2014 01:35 PM

I don't give a good goddamn if you discipline your kids with a spanking. I don't do it to mine, but I don't have any business telling you you shouldn't.

However, IF Peterson caused the injuries in the photo I've seen, he has not engaged in disciplining a child, IMHO, he has committed domestic violence. Pure and simple. The legal system should and will get their bite at him, but if the league is satisfied that the photo is authentic and truly shows what it is purported to show, he should be suspended immediately.
