Teams that lose to TCU shouldn't get #1 seeds. But you could say the same for teams with losses against teams like Penn State and West Forest. Somebody has to get them in the end and KU's resume is simply better than nearly everyone else's right now.

This site has KU tied on the S-Curve for the overall #1:

Yes, but one can also point out

And it's PSU man.
And it's WF man.
And it's 27 point loss to Miami man.
And it's USF man.
And it's the SEC man.
And it's the PAC man.
And it's the MWC man. (although that conference is pretty good this year)
And it's the WCC man.

Almost every team has warts. Yes, the TCU loss was inexcusable, but OSU and @OU are plausible. If we win out (maybe only win up to the B12 championship will be enough), we'll snag a one seed. Other than the B1G, there is not another conference that is appreciably better than the B12, and quite a few who are worse.

People got to get over TCU. Yes, it was an historically bad funk we were in, but it was atypical of the majority of the season. The team has responded, and we're now winning tough games again, and looking more cohesive while we're doing it.

Of course, KU fans should see this coming. for the most part, Self's teams get better in March. Yes, we've had some notable early exit years, but for the most part, Self gets his team ready for March, and this one is no different.

A 7-footer who's the leading shotblocker in Big 12 history in only two seasons of play (and who set the blocks record for the NCAA Tourney last year). They have 3 pretty good Seniors rounding out the starting lineup including the leading shooter in college basketball in Releford.

Nobody playing PG effectively for most of the entire season can hurt your potential.

They have Bill Self. I guess I don't see why you don't think we're any good? We're fantastic, even by our historical standards. We had a lot of bad seasons compared to this over the past 120 years.
Self's teams rated by KP's Pythagorean ratings:

2008: .9859
2007: .9755
2010: .9683
2011: .9539
2012: .9485
2005: .9468
2006: .9448
2013: .9420
2004: .9342
2009: .9333

By historical standards, yes, they're doing quite well. By Self team's ridiculously high standards, they're below average (but they could certainly play their way into the middle down the stretch).

Why? We're already on the 1-line. We haven't blown anyone's doors off (well except for KSU but that's a given). We will win our next two, and have a shot in Waco. If we sweep that gives us a Power 6 title and a 27-4 (15-3) record. And 14-3 vs. the RPI 100.

That's a 1-seed. Period.

Jesus, after all the talk on Twitter and the radio, I thought those unis were going to be camo. They don't look that bad. Even the blue. They agreed to wear it once over the life of the Adidas contract. They probably milked another couple of million out of Adidas just for that.

I know Michigan turned down wearing some uni but they have more money that anybody but UT. They can afford it. Plus, I rememeber when Larry Brown was at KU they played once in a mustard/gold uni. That was ugly.

And they played in some red ones that said "Jayhawks" across the front in Ahearn when I was teenager. Or it might have been the Big 8 Holiday Tourney. Can't remember which.

They should make a black jersey and a silver jersey. Not KState dark of a silver, but more of a lighter silver.

Joe Lunardi has moved KU back to a projected 1 seed:

I think some people misunderstood what I posted. There is no chicken little here.

I'm just saying it is weird that this KU team is in line for a 1 seed. It is a testimate to how weird the entire NCAA is.

The tourney is going to do everything they can to make this happen as often as possible... ****ers. ROFL

Prison Bitch 03-01-2013 01:48 PM

No win for KU. If they win, they "cheated" either by paying players, dirty recruiting, or paying off the refs. If they lose, then they're inferior to Mizzou.

teedubya 03-01-2013 01:48 PM

Personally, I'd rather have a 2 seed this year... those 3 losses in a row... that is NOT a #1 seed personality trait, IMO.

Prison Bitch 03-01-2013 01:53 PM

Not following you. So they lost 3 in a row. Does that mean they went 24-1 in their other games?

Chiefs Pantalones 03-01-2013 01:54 PM

Lunardi is a moron. The rules state you can't have that (KU/MU) happen in that region or something of that nature. You'd think he'd know that. There's no way it could happen in KC.
