Losing Allen too?

That's similar to Pat losing Kelce, with nobody like Rice or Hollywood already on the roster.

Sure, they could draft one if they stay at 5, but I don't think they do.

I think everyone knew since last season that they'd get rid of at least one of those guys. I always figured Mike Williams wouldn't be a Charger in 2024.

But getting rid of both?

Chargers are about to get Herminatore'd back to the Marty era. Harbaugh aint about that arena ball bullshit. Here comes the run run pass punt offense.

Saying he doesn't have the "clutch gene" is totally valid as he has yet to show that he can make plays necessary when the game is on the line.

I do think that with a better organization/coaching staff he could've had a better carrier up to this point.

And i don't agree that Harbaugh is gonna be the guy to turn it around for him/them.

Sean Payton should have waited 1 more year. I guess he’s getting paid insane money for a coach though.

Harbaugh has been good for his QB’s in the past. The work he did with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernik give that merit

Herbert is good. That team has no support system. Nobody cares about the Chargers in LA. They have no home field. They played at a frickin soccer stadium for a few years that was invaded by opposing fans.

It’s why they’ll never be a threat despite having really good teams on paper

Pasta Little Brioni 03-20-2024 12:49 PM

I will say the same thing EVERY time someone comes riding in to white knight these jokers...ELITE QBs find a way to win games...PERIOD. This isn't arguable.

I'd argue that the strength of those teams weren't the QB, but the team around them. Lets also not forget that he benched Alex Smith for Kaep because they were struggling to score points.

The question is can Harbaugh rebuild that sort of organization while being strapped to Herbert's contract. He didnt have such an obstacle with Smith and Kaep, much like today's 49ers.

That's why I have serious questions about them taking a WR at 5. It just doesn't seem like that would be the first draft pick of this regime.

Which direction do you see them going at #5?

Herbert is talented .

I think there's a fundamental difference. He needs to win playoff games or he'll go down as yet another talented Qb who couldn't win shit.

Yup. They're gonna try to build those lines imo. Just such a Harbaugh thing to do.

Trade down.

I think that's the spot for a team like the Vikings to come up and get their QB.

Sassy Squatch 03-20-2024 12:53 PM

Isn't his only playoff game that Jaguars debacle?

Dante84 03-20-2024 12:55 PM

For a team with a franchise QB & LT + not much else on offense, they should be focus on accruing as many picks as possible.

The smart move is for them to trade back, although MHJ is tempting.

Technically yes (I think).

But it seems like he loses every must-win game in the regular season.

RunKC 03-20-2024 12:55 PM

Honestly it’s pretty remarkable that Herbert turned out as good as he did with Kellen freaking Moore and Joe Lombardi being his offensive coaches the last 3 years. He did get Steichen as a rookie though

Mecca 03-20-2024 12:55 PM

The Chargers GM is a guy from the Ravens and they beat the BPA mantra into the ground day after day so it's hard to see them doing anything totally stupid.
