Kicking Thuney out to RT?

Yes. Because we took a guy in the 5th round, we’re going to displace an All Pro guard.

Sounds like a great plan.

Kinnard is a stud!!

Hmm…. I like it, then. He’s probably a backup rt or g. If he does play RT, we better run the ball. That’s a bruising right side with him and Trey smith. Mercy. Maybe, veach is trying to encourage Andy to run the ball more with all of these mammoth linemen.

Couch-Potato 04-30-2022 12:12 PM

"This is one mean dude. His double teams and down blocks are ferocious and he’s rolled up one hell of a body count at Kentucky—he was credited with 47 knockdown blocks in 11 games during the 2020 season (another 32 in 2019 as a first-year full-time starter). Simply put, he puts guys on the ground and much of that success shines through when he’s firing vertically off the ball and running his feet."

I took him a few times in mocks in the fourth round.

He's very experienced, big, road grader type. That's a NASTY right side with Smith if we ever...you know...wanted to run the ball.

Here’s the problem though - you put him and Brown out there as your bookends and speed rushers will eat you alive.

I mean that’s a ton of mass with those two but also two guys with REALLY heavy feet.

Which is it? He played guard in college but projects as a RT in the pros?

3 yrs of exp in SEC

RunKC 04-30-2022 12:14 PM

He isn’t playing this year. Niang will be healthy for camp, Wylie is back and Christianson was signed.

I think he’s gonna get his shot in 2023 after some development. Love that he can play G though. If Trey Smith gets hurt I’d love to plug him in

chiefforlife 04-30-2022 12:14 PM

This guy IS a RT, hes a really good one! I wanted Diesch but I didnt really know this guy. Looks like a Beast!

I think Niang just became our Swing Tackle.

Veach is the BEST! Every hole on our team has been addressed!

Know nothing about this guy. I’m positive they said In the announcement he played guard in college. How’d they get that wrong?

kccrow 04-30-2022 12:19 PM

I'm okay with Kinnard. If you're projecting him "right now" to play, then yeah I agree with the talking heads about OG. I don't think you can throw him out there at tackle today or he's going to get torched. Sit him for a year though and work on those hands and feet? Then I think you might have a RT. That's the beauty of it too, KC does not need a starter this year.

One thing is, I think this pick over a guy like Braxton Jones is that they are committed to OBJ because there is no project to LT for this guy.
