You don't have to have a high powered offense to win the superbowl even today. If you have the right mix of offense and defense you can win it. That's what they are trying to build. The offense has shown some flashes. They have looked horrible at others. Smith has made some mistakes but they haven't cost us a game. THe constant bashing of Alex Smith is not called for. END OF STORY

Is this Matthews Chiefs from CC?

First...I never thought he was the pick at 1.1 and I would be interested in knowing how many really feel he would have been the right pick at that spot. If you are arguing that we should have kept our 2nd Round pick and taken a flier on him there I can understand that. But then my next question would have been had we taken him, how many of the impatient fans would be screaming for the Draft Packs head had Geno failed? I'm not convinced some of you would have been as patient with his "growing pains" as you are saying now.

I still believe it's too early to call G Smith a boom or bust....5 games really isn't enough to judge him by, anymore than the games Matt Cassel won at NE made him a quality QB.

I say you wait until the season is over with....that way if suddenly the Jets go on a 9 game losing streak and Geno's lack of experience is one of the reasons you aren't busy trying to rationalize. And...for those who are detractors, if he matures into the QB that his supporters believe he is/can be then you won't be trying to rationalize either.

I will ALWAYS show patience for a high-round QB drafted by this team.*

*Assuming I ever get the chance, of course.

It's not Geno/No Geno. Geno just happened to be the guy on the majority radar this year.

Next year, and the year thereafter, it will be "Joe Blow".

It doesn't matter; just take the ****ing shot.

And with that the jury finds you a dumbass.

You're right, you CAN win with Dilfer, you CAN with with Alex, and the little bouncing roulette ball sometimes lands on one of those 2 green spaces instead of the 18 red and 18 black. Me? I'll bet red or black everytime.

Go back and look at the past 8 QB's to win a SB. 7 of them have something in common. Yes, there is the one exception(green spot), but most are red or black.

That I can understand...but here is my question:

Do you think he should have been 1.1 or would you rather have kept our 2nd Round and taken a flier on whomever was left? (Everyone but E J Manuel)

Right or wrong I may be....after watching the Chiefs faithful since it's inception my opinion is they are less patient than they claim to be when it comes to the draft.

Yes. My overall strategy was keep Winston(Fisher's numbers thus far are the same),take Geno or whomever the Chiefs felt was the best QB option at 1.1, and let him sit under Smith for a year or two, flying in the face of the "accepted and proscribed method" of throwing your QB draft pick to the fire, just because he's a high first rounder. Daniel is just filling an ass pad on the sideline, and Bray could have been had at any point, obviously.

The team needed an "Alex Smith"(due to the prospects this year being developmental guys all around), but the cost for Axl was too high IMO, especially if Reid ties himself to him against Dorsey's better judgement.

And it's done nothing but kill them when it mattered. History has shown this again and again. I'm not writing a new book here.

Hopefully, Andy and John can and will change this. I'm happy with letting them pick who they feel is best, but for god's sake; make a choice.

And I can accept that premise....it is just my opinion that 1.1 was too high for him.

And....for me time will tell whether I was right or wrong by the end of the season.

See, here is where I get a little confused....you are saying that you trust Reid and Dorsey, but you are questioning their decision when it comes to Geno?

But not too high for Fisher?
