I concur.

I don't want Shannarat here if he wants shared GM duties.
And I don't think Pioli is dumb enough to give them to him.

So everyone should just chill the **** out.

Three years ago Shanahan drafted a franchise quarterback and he was just beginning to pay off. Pat Bowlen took Jay Cutler away from Mike Shanahan.

It's sort of like if FOX had fired George Lucas after he had worked on Star Wars for two years and given it to another director. Do you not think he would be pissed off at FOX? Do you not think he would want to go to a competing studio and make a similar science fiction epic?

Oh yeah, this is like the end of Aliens, make no mistake. Jay Cutler is newt. Pat Bowlen is the alien queen. And Mike Shanahan just got in his power loader and yelled "GET AWAY FROM HER YOU BITCH!"

Shanahan said he thought the Broncos' offense, with its cast of young stars such as Pro Bowl selections Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, would have the team in the hunt for another championship in the near future.

"I'll always be part of that," he said. "I'll always be rooting for them. Hopefully we can get it done."

Notice he said "we." He still bleeds blue predominantly orange.

Oh how sweet. Either way Bowlen is going to take it up the ass on this one.

orange to BigChiefFan. Answer plain, one simple answer. Why would Shanahan coach the Chiefs for the same total money that he's going to get anyway for not coaching them?

Says the 40-year-old virgin.

How many job openings are there going to be next year? Probably, not many. If Shanahan wants to coach in the NFL for a non-crazy owner who will also have an opening.....

I put it at least 50-50 he lands here this weekend.

I'm definitely precious. Mike Shanahan, however, is not. He's about as cutthroat as they come.

The Cowboys are the obvious target. Yes, the owner is crazy... but that crazy owner has three Super Bowl rings so he knows a little something about football. If he can extract roster control from Jones, Shanahan is Dallas-bound in a heartbeat.

JASONSAUTO - you got REP (read it) - but that doesn't mean I agree with you, only that it's a fair suggestion. I don't think that competitiveness is enough to drive Shanahan to burn his bridges with Bowlen. He's not out of options.

Yeah. NFL head coaches hardly ever get fired.

Good grief... :shake:

You don't seem to UNDERSTAND that Shanny is going to make $7 million a year for the next 3 years from BOWLEN, unless he finds work ELSEWHERE, in which the difference will be made up by whoever hires him, thus FREEING UP MONEY for Bowlen. Bowlen OWES that to him , since he FIRED him-that's what having a contract is all about.

He won't be taking less, he's making $7 mil next year and the two after that whether he works in the NFL or not. He's OWED that.

Remember - Shanahan gets the $7 million if he does NOTHING. The scenario ESPN offered doesn't make him one extra cent.

A back-loaded contract. 2 million year 1, 2 million year 2, 2 million year 3, 10 million year 4.
