Surely $235K can't be the damage. There wasn't that much bad there. |

Damn Inmen. That some sucky shit you gotta go through. Battling the insurance company is NOT fun. Good luck man. We give you shit about that but do wish you the best possible outcome and are glad no one was injured.

Good luck man. Let me know what the lawyer says. PM me if you don't want it public. Hopefully they negotiate to a few thousand or you can extract something from the insurance company. Hopefully your lawyer is good. Coincidentally I've been (ancillarily) exposed to s shitton of bad lawyering recently. |
Hope it works out for you Inmen.
I have a feeling it will. |
Thanks everybody, you guys are awesome. I'll give some feedback later this evening.

Insurance companies are the definition of the suck. They bring top drawer heat to court to **** over the little guy.

Well after talking with a couple of lawyers & bankruptcy lawyers, our only option was to file chapter 13 bankruptcy and be placed on a tight spending budget for the next 5 years. We made too much money to file Chapter 7 which was our first choice.
They also recommended that we call the insurance company to see if they'll settle and THEY DID!!!! We offered our minimum, but it wasn't going our way. After negotiating for about 5-8 minutes I offered 20k and they accepted. Our savings isn't touched, thank god for a good job bonus and income taxes :D Also, when filing Chapter 13 you have to keep in contact with them if the wife and I were to get any pay increases, if so they'll be able to adjust our income and disposable income, it would have been a mess. |

So did not having renter's insurance **** you? Or wouldn't it have mattered as they could have claimed negligence on your part anyway? |
