He didn't start off 'worse.' He started off rusty because he had that short holdout and missed practice. Basically missed almost the whole offseason in terms of workouts/practice.

But he did put in a lot of work during the offseason trying to improve his agility and overall capabilities, so he's not lazy and can, and will, self-evaluate.

I remember a day when the Chiefs restructured Frank Clark before the season instead of cutting him and the who's who of CP football knowledge was up in arms about how terrible it was.

Whatever the plan with OBJ is, I have faith that Veach understands the vision infinitely more than any one that chooses to flip flop on PFF stats depending on whether or not the stats back up their personal belief.

I 100% agree and is exactly why I wrote "Agents" and left out what Creed and Smith will actually think.

Agents jobs are to get as much as they can for their clients. You don't think overpaying OBJ will be a discussion point for agents of these other soon to get paid players like Creed and Smith?

But we know already that OBJ is better than Bolles, and not as good as Tunsil. The fact that PFF somehow doesn't know that doesn't make PFF seem more credible.

Bolles grade is 72.9

Wylie is gone. Period. So no reason to entertain that scenario.

OBJ's situation is completely dependent on what he and his agent want to do. I DO think they will ultimately get a long term deal done, but if they are completely unreasonable and force Veach's hand, there's not a doubt in my mind he will pivot.

So there is a very real world scenario, potentially, where both starting tackles are gone. We'll see how it plays out . . . . . .

Honestly that seems like the least likely scenario (trading him). I think it would be more likely they tag him, play him, and hunt for jis replacement in this draft to start the following year. Obj would get a big contract and probably have 3rd round comp pick value unless the chiefs signa big contract to cancel him out next offseason.

Top 5?

If you think he's top 5, then you're fine giving him a 140 million dollar deal? Of which most of that is guaranteed.

Correct?

I know the cap can be worked out and Veach can keep about all the players if he wants BUT I do worry if making OBJ the highest paid LT in the NFL will create a WTF moment for guys agents of Creed, Smith and who ever else knowing that OBJ not being close to a top 5 LT in the NFL just got paid as the best LT in the NFL. Does Creeds agent say hey I actually do have the best center in the NFL and now you MUST pay him like he is....Smith's agent HEY my client needs OBJ overpay type money! And so on and so on.

I just don't see Veach going down this path!

1) Sign OBJ to a reasonable contract

2) Tag and trade

3) Tag and draft his replacement that plays RT in 2023, would mean OBJ probably walks after 2023 and the rookie slides over to LT OR OBJ agrees to a more reasonable contract and that rookie stays at RT.

Absolutely giving Brown a market setting contract is an awful idea. I would be fine if they gave him Top 10 money. If he refuses that then KC should explore other options which I do believe Veach is already doing.

No matter what OBJ gets paid Creed and Smith are going to want their bag as well. Creed very well may be the best center in the league and that's the money he will command. Even if OBJ takes a discount.

That is true but I still think Agents will point to Veach overpaying OBJ as a starting point that Veach won't be able to deny.

Also besides the, you overpaid OBJ so you can over pay my client thing, the fact that making OBJ the highest paid LT means its gonna be even harder to pay Creed and Smith just market value let alone over paying them.

Yes money/cap can be flexible but that still doesn't mean its the long term smart thing to do!

2 of those guys maybe, not all 4.

Bolton isn't due a contract until after 2024, whole different scenario.

People are also overstating how much off ball LB's get paid.

So you don't even care what comes in return. You'd give away picks JUST to get rid of Brown.

You must understand that a lot of people on here live in Madden fantasy world. Picks, contracts, trades all mean nothing.

Next offseason is when you'd start looking to sign him, this offseason with Gay and Sneed.
