Every play Jones made in a Chiefs uniform happened while Jones was in his 20's. Every play Jones makes from this point on will happen while Jones is in his 30's.

Many a great defensive lineman hit the wall hard in their early 30's. Maybe just maybe Veach knows what he's doing.

Yeah, this is it.

If we don’t have an announcement by tomorrow night, it’s over … unless some team won’t pay him.

And there are enough teams with money and desperation to give Aaron Donald money or better if he gets to the market.

That’s fine. Thanks for best years of your career and the help winning Super Bowls, Chris. Enjoy the money and see you at the end of your career. And maybe when you’re walking out of Arrowhead after KC sends your team’s ass home in the playoffs.

This is the way.

What? He was 35 and signed a one year deal instead of retiring. Why's it weird. I said I, not Jones, but I would prefer to stay with one team and retire like Kelce. He could have left for more money a couple of different times, just like Travis could have, but they have chosen not to.

If that's the case then we shouldn't be trying to get him back even at $25mil a year.

And what kind of decline do you see Chris having the next 3 years percentage wise? If the past 2 years are at 100% prime Chris Jones, how do you project his decline based on that number?

He signed the highest deal for a center in 2019 at 31yrs old like I said in the other post. He then signed the 1 year contract to keep him the highest paid center last year.

But Chris Jones can't do that because....?

I think we'd all prefer Chris Jones to stay and retire here. I just don't get bringing Kelce up when Kelce did exactly what Jones is trying to do. Sign a 3-4 year deal that makes him the highest or 2nd highest paid DT in the league, and then hopefully after that he can sign 1 year deals based on how he feels about retiring and his performance.

And Patrick being the top QB in the league is able to demand what he's paid. Why isn't that same luxury afforded to Jones as the top DT in the league?

What he **** do you keep rambling on about... LMAO Patrick is taking a discount, if you think he's not, you're crazy. If Jones wants the bag, that's his decision, if he goes to another team for 3-4 years his legacy as a Chief won't be as strong as if he stayed. This isn't debateable and isn't a ****ing argument, it's stating facts. I don't want the Chiefs to overpay for past performance on a 30 year old guy. I hope Jones means what he said at the parade and will take a hometeam discount like Kelce and Mahomes have done, if not oh well, that's his decision. I just don't want my team making deals that could blow up our window.

One last time, Do you think Jason Kelce would have left if they wouldn't have paid him. Do you think Travis should leave for more $. He could. Again, read my post, few choose to stay with the same team. I hope Chris does, but no way we are overpaying for him to do so, and if he leaves, he won't be remembered as fondly as if he would have stayed... Again...

Sorry that the QB position is the highest paid in the NFL. You can try to say, “BUT WHA ABOUT PATRICK MONEY!?!” But that’s just a stupid comparison. Can every player say that as to why they need max contracts or are you going to be Drue Tranquill and sign the deal and let’s get to work. Not blow smoke up the fan bases ass for two years straight just to be a greedy **** when actions are required.

When Mahomes signed his initial 10 year deal he stated that he knew that his contract would be eclipsed by other QBs on an annual basis. Sure enough a bunch of QBs started to pass him. What did he do last year? He renegotiated and adjusted his salary to make him among the highest paid in the league. He could have continued to take less for the team but he didn’t, nor should he. Neither should Jones. He’s earned this final huge contract from whoever is willing to pay it.

And Mahomes is still at a discount...

If he's going to stunt like last year again, well bye... its maybe not good riddance, but just riddance

He should call Reek and ask him if a couple extra million was genuinely worth it, over being the Champions every other year

Wisconsin_Chief 03-09-2024 05:29 PM

Losing Jones would really kill on two levels. If he leaves you have to resign Sneed, so you’re also losing out on that extra draft pick. It hurts.

I really hope CJ comes to his senses, but I’m really starting to worry. It’s like Chipper Jones tried telling Freddie Freeman, if you let it get to free agency and all the pretty girls are coming after you, it’s easy to forget about where you really want to be. Just a damn shame.

BigCatDaddy 03-09-2024 05:29 PM

Man, if we lose Sneed, CJ, Gay and Omenihu for the season that's a hell of a hit. We need to really him some homeruns filling those spots or on the other side of the ball to offset it.

When Patrick signed his deal it was the biggest contract in NFL history. Then before last season he restructured his contract so that he would have the highest cap hit in the league.

And when Kelce signed he was the highest paid TE in history until Kittle signed his deal later on that day. Saying he took a "hometown discount" is revisionist rose colored glasses history. We only say he's underpaid in relation to WRs but even now 4 years after signing his deal he's still the 4th highest paid TE in the league.

Well in all honesty, Reek would say it was probably worth it since he has a very active wayward penis.;) But your point is well taken. Could be wearing 3 rings along side of his core homies(Pat, Travis, and Chris) right now.
