Oh damn - the new pod setup has us missing Georgia?

I mean, Auburn, Bama and Oklahoma ain't nothing (man that's a fun 3 game stretch) but that's doable.

The problem as I see it is that the non-con is so week that 2 losses doesn't get you into the top 12. There aren't many great wins likely to be on that schedule.

11-1 gets you a playoff spot. 10-2 probably leaves you scratching your balls.

Not much margin for error in there.

I think for the first two years of new SEC 16. You play 7 SEC the first year, you play the other 7 next year and get Arkansas both years. I think its so Texas and Oklahoma can play all 15 SEC schools.

But you win 10 in the SEC with the 12 team playoff next year, you good.

Mizzou appears to be poised to REALLY make some moves in the portal.

Cayden Green and Chris McClellan, the big DT out of Florida, are the headliners, but Mizzou is involved with a different level of guys this year.

Pretty exciting stuff, even if they don't land all the top targets.

Didn't ever think I'd say this, but I think Drink is about to do something pretty special with Mizzou football.

Just more of the stuff I've been bitching about - the unfettered free agency of every single player on every single team in college football every single offseason just doesn't feel tenable to me.

I don't know how this can possibly sustain.

Well, if there's a positive to be had at least Mizzou and Drinkwitz seem to be willing to go to the extremes with this new reality of effective free agency every year. It's unfortunately going to be all but necessary to do it incredibly well given the current circumstances, and if he's able to consistently elevate the prestige of the program while the rules are what they are more power to him.

OU seems to be really struggling to adjust to the new normal, where the huge amounts of money they funneled under the table to recruits families couldn't be matched, and where they could buy HS coaches and have that pay off in steering influence of kids.

Sorry not sorry.

Yeah - this feels like I a recruiting battle I wouldn't mind losing.

I'm not sure that's an element I'm super eager to introduce to the locker room. I could be wrong here, but you're gonna deal with that every single season with him and you're gonna get shopped to the high bidder every time. Is that the buy-in you're looking for?

We can go out there and get a dozen 4* recruits every year and we're STILL at a raw talent disadvantage to teams like Bama, Georgia and Ohio State. We need an edge somewhere and that's going to have to be in continuity and buy-in.

This may be winning a battle to lose the war. I'm not sure this is a Pandora's box we want to be opening...

Seems like a really shitty situation to put yourself in as a player, as well. Youd think you would want to settle into a system to help yourself look better, so that you can go pro.

Through familial and friendly associations, I'm around Arky Fan more than I'd like to be. They were having a pretty solid jerk to the hiring of, I kid you not, Bobby Petrino. He was going to make Arky a force in the SEC.

Today, they're much more focused on complaining about NIL and how "they" need to get rid of it and how big bad Mizzou is stealing their guys. It's ****ing gold.

I do feel like there's a little grade inflation. Or maybe it's just leaning more and more have/have nots.

I mean for all the momentum we have, this is what - a 20th ranked class? It might be (might be) a top 10 class in the SEC?

It's talent beyond anything we've ever brought in, but man, the entire SEC is just cleaning up. We're not exactly gaining a ton of ground on our peer groups here.

Georgia's class is just hilarious. So is Oklahoma's. 20+ 4* or better recruits there. Oklahoma has eighteen four-star guys and that's good for 4th in the SEC.

We might end up with 5?

The arms race is still just completely looney tunes.

That's why it's hard to get excited. Would be an amazing class in the current Big 12, but damn is looking at these other SEC hauls rather deflating.

Quality vs Quantity when it comes to rankings. I don't know how much of a difference there is between 26-50 but I don't think there's been a playoff team that hasn't had at least 1 top 5 class

Definite tampering, but legal in the way that everybody does it as each side had handlers/agents. Cayden told OU he’d stay if they matched MU’s offer. OU matched, but he supposedly then used that to get more MU money.

Cayden never told an OU player or coach that he was leaving. On his way out he was spotted by an OU staff member loading up his car to leave. That is how they found out. When they tried to talk he just said call my Dad (who wouldn’t answer) I can’t say anything.

Dad/uncle probably shopped it to Oregon, but no confirmation. It is undetermined if he ever talked to Oregon or was using them as a smoke screen on his deal with MU.

I hate to be negative here, but if Missouri ends up getting curbstomped by Ohio State, how much of this stuff just dries up and blows away? Could these kids decommit just as easily as they committed, or is there some sort of limit to how many times they can switch schools?

There is a limit, I believe, but they are SIGNED through next season at least (again, I believe).

Lower court ruling regarding transfer rules has created a temporary void this offseason where players can transfer a second time without penalty.

At bottom, the court’s ruling blocked the NCAA from enforcing its multiyear transfer restriction for 14 days and prohibited the NCAA from enforcing its Rule of Restitution[1] (Bylaw 12.11.4.2) during these 14 days. However, on December 15, the seven AGs and the NCAA agreed to convert the 14-day temporary restraining order (TRO) into a preliminary injunction, with the NCAA agreeing to suspend enforcement of its transfer restrictions through the end of the 2023-2024 spring sports season.[2]

Yeah - I'd say Drink and crew are taking nicely to this Arkansas rivalry stuff.

Because man, those folks are not fond of their neighbors to the north right now...

Part of the reason never to trust Google reviews....people can be really vindictive and snarky for all the wrong reasons.

Kirby Moore and Baker both signed extensions....great news, keeping them both is big.
