Well since 4 of his misses are from 50 plus and are getting block, he must be losing some steam and has to kick it lower, or are your ST's just shitty with the punt return last week and these blocks... and don't bring up the Rams Punt return, that was as egregious non call on two blocks in the back that you will see...

That's absolutely a fair take. Tucker has been great his whole career. Butker has been nails all year but did go through a shaky patch last year. Both teams are set up great if it comes down to a game winning kick. Even though the Chiefs seem to have excised their past playoff kicking demons, I still can't help but clench up tight when it comes to game winning kicks. This will probably be one of those games.

And that's how I feel this week... that feeling of knowing the weakness of the argument that a team is unbeatable (Grapes, the Eagles cupcake schedule, and now Lamar), and thinking why not the Chiefs. ...but of course having really no idea how it plays out and not going the complete opposite thinking the Chiefs will win easily.

It could very much be like halftime of the Eagles game... oh yeah, they're pretty damn good. Or an also familiar feeling of nah... we got this.

I think it'll be a close game down to the end and would take Mahomes and this defense into that kind of battle ever single time.

Also can someone tweet that photo to @bobbystoupe so he can add it to the list.

Shes nearly unbearable to watch, not because her picks against the Chiefs, just so much worse than Kay Adams. I hope she goes on 12 months of maternity leave.

His 53 yarder he hit last week was straight through, could have just been a bit of a slump.

The breeze on Sunday could be tough, and it may very well come down to the kicking game.

I am enjoying everyone talking up the ravens like the chiefs have no shot.
The bills said we had zero. Now they are all bragging we can't get past the ravens.

Hopefully our dline amps it up. Because they will need too.

Butker’s leg/foot was injured in the very first game on Arizona’s slippery field last season. I think it played a major role in his kicking issues throughout the 2022 season. I assume he is much healthier this season and it has really showed in his kicking ability, which has been super impressive.

I think back to corndog. Would we have converted both of those possessions without it? Maybe one, but both? That's a four-point swing right there. Outside of the margin of victory. An example of how coaching can directly impact the outcome of a game. I think people overlook the effect being outcoached can have on big games. I believe that's a big advantage for us.

Mahomes takes the focus and intensity up several notches during the playoffs. Kyle Long and Jawaan Taylor have both spoke to it recently.

I think he gets into a focus-level and flow state that isn't achievable for a mere mortal. And it's why he's got a ridiculouis 38-7 TD/INT ratio in 16 playoff games.

The motivation probably only harnesses his focus and intent even more, but I don't think he needs it either to get into flow.

Hmmm, not sure I agree with this. Wet, slippery field makes it hard for defenders to stop and change direction. Those are 2 things they need, especially against Jackson.

Not enough sand in his trunks.

He gets moved a bit too easily on early downs. So we seem to see Dickerson as a true Nose (we use Wharton more as a 3T).

But I thought Ferrell looked far better in his limited run than anything we got from Dickerson. And I'd be willing to spin the wheel and take my chances on Buggs.

Trust in Mike Pennell. Hes a nice big fat ass too. Was a big part of our run a couple years ago.

jerryaldini 01-26-2024 03:19 PM

Injury update
After not practicing on Wednesday, Pacheco worked in a team walkthrough on Thursday but was held out of afternoon practice once again. Returning to close out the week was a good sign for Pacheco heading into the weekend. He's officially questionable for the AFC title game but is expected to play.

The good news for the Chiefs is safety Mike Edwards progressed to full participation in practice on Friday after not working on Wednesday and being limited on Thursday. He's listed as questionable for Sunday's game, although there's growing optimism that he could clear concussion protocol in time to play.

Linebacker Willie Gay Jr. is questionable as he continues to work through a neck injury. He was a limited participant in Wednesday and Thursday's practices but didn't work at all on Friday. Gay played just 11 defensive snaps last Sunday before exiting the Bills game. He's a critical part of Kansas City's game plan against rushing quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson, so his status is a huge one to watch over the weekend

With Nnadi out, expect veteran Mike Pennel to step back into his role along the defensive line. In the Divisional Round, he played a season-high 40 snaps.

If the dude has a disc issue (and that's the rumor; or a bad enough stinger that it has nerves firing in his neck) then he can't !@#%ing play.

Everyone knows what they say to WRs over the middle and LBers in coverage, right?

"Head on a swivel"

What do y'all think that 'swivel' is, fellas?!?

If the guy can't turn his head, he can't play football. He's trying. I think he'll give it a go on Sunday. But man, when those nerves get fired up, they're REALLY hard to calm down. I have a bad C7 and if that disc pinches, it's a pretty acute problem for 3-5 days and a lingering problem that can be aggravated fairly easily for another week or so after that.

I feel for the guy. He knows this is his moment. It's his time to shine in a matchup that could REALLY allow him to stand out. Athleticism vs. athleticism vs a guy largely considered one of the most athletic players in the league at any position in Lamar Jackson.

Well, except for by the Ravens fans, who insist he's just really smart.

But setting them aside for a moment, Gay could stand out on a national stage here by doing what he's best at. And his body isn't wanting to cooporate.

That suuuuuuuuucks for him.

I know he's probably gone but I'll miss him. Dude's energy is awesome and he's been a lot of fun to have in KC. I hope he gets out there and kicks ass on his way to a massive bag somewhere.

He honestly was not running well in the Bills game. He was stiff (Im sure due to the neck)

RunKC 01-26-2024 04:04 PM

Some people really forget just how athletic Leo Chenal is. A guy that big running a 4.53 40 is insane. He's gonna be Willlie's replacement.

And while that 4.53 and below 7 cone is definitely above the 90th percentile for a LB, Willie is just a bit faster and also better in pass coverage.

Against Josh Allen that's not a big deal but Lamar is a legit 4.4 guy with superior athleticism.

Really hope Willie can play

FloridaMan88 01-26-2024 04:05 PM

Lamar Jackson disagrees with this strategy.

Even if Willie plays, it is hard to imagine him moving around at full speed and making the type of plays he can make when healthy.

I have zero doubt thousands of people will be wearing 2024 Baltimore Ravens, AFC and Super Bowl Champions swag soon.

Congratulations to all of those repping the ravens championship shirts….

….in sub Saharan Africa.

I'm honestly not sure he knows any other speed.

It's probably why he went out early. If your neck is stiff, it's not like you can't turn it, it's more that it hurts like holy hell when you do. And when the adrenaline/energy gets up, he's going to.

And if he's not sound, he'll be out. If he is, he'll keep at it.

I don't think a guy like Gay, most LBers for that matter, can truly play at half speed to compensate for an injury. They're like racehorses; they'll run themselves until they drop.

The Detroit gear has to go somewhere too.

I'll take solace in that we've got Drue.

You can do a lot worse than that. Him and Bolton is our smartest LB duo.
