Watch the play. It took entirely too long to develop. It's like Smith had a ****ing brain fart. He hung Avery out to dry.

And the pass was high. Late and high

I don't think it was a designed screen, so it seemed Avery was the 3 option. Of course it took a while to get there

Where are the Alex Smith nuthuggers after today's game? The dude was missing wide open receivers all day. The Avery fumble was his fault. He couldn't keep his eyes downfield. Awful.

Wide open receivers? All I heard on both the TV and the radio feeds was that our receivers were constantly covered and weren't getting open.

Nightfyre 10-13-2013 02:50 PM

I wish I could .gif this play up, but I have no idea how to go about it. I would love to do it from the All-22 perspective so we can see where the defensive back came from to blast him. It also would be telling if there was blocking downfield, which I don't recall being able to see from the game camera angle.

Any drive where Alex doesn't throw a TD pass is going to be said to be evidence he sucks, and even some of the ones where he does.

Even a completed pass to a player who subsequently fumbles is said to prove that he sucks.

I think we can safely write the Geno mafia off now.

Again, wish I could gif this shit up. There were several times where I saw WRs coming across the middle with space.

I guess you missed the go route where Smith decided to try and fire a lazer with absolutely zero touch to Avery and had it sail about 5 yards over his head.

Just a tip, for a go route, you always want to throw the pass with air under it and let the receiver run under it, all of which, Smith did horribly. There were several other open receivers that he missed, as well. Smith sucks.

duncan_idaho 10-13-2013 02:52 PM

Smith was atrocious today, but I won't put the Avery fumble on anyone but him. That's all on Donnie.

Alex Smith's play has regressed mightily since that promising second half against the Giants. Disappointing.

Lucky for him this is a really great and opportunistic defense.

Alex was terrible today... and Geno got whipped by a winless team that was dismantled by Matt Cassel in their last start. Every part of this discussion should just be nuked from orbit today.

In the world where most fans live, which is a lot like Madden, anybody who is open at any moment should get the ball. and the QB can hit any of them instantly if he just decides to.

In real life, a QB is working through progressions in a designed way and may not reach that player or have located another option. The fact that someone had some semblance of a throwing window at some point during the play does not mean Smith did something wrong with respect to the design of the play.

I would like to see it too, since I watched it on TV in quarters 1,2 & 4 and listen on the radio during the 3rd quarter, and all they talked about on both was how good the Raiders man coverage was, and how no one was getting open. They don't show the receivers much on TV so you have to take the announcers word for it. Until you prove otherwise that is what I will have to do.

Yeah, my electricity went out and I had to listen to the radio feed on my iPhone for part of the second half. But ONE PLAY doesn't change what I said at all.

He wasn't defenseless lol. He caught the ball and even made a move to juke the DB,the DB just made a good play on it. I agree he's lucky it was completed at all and Avery wasn't hit hard. When you make that throw those things CAN happen. But that's not what happened here

You Geno lovers have NOTHING

Alex had a shit game. But he STILL OUTDID Geno

Chiefs offense 7 points
Jets 6

A former MVP brought up the point you keep denying that the WRS are just not getting open. I'm sure that you guys are so much smarter then a former NFL MVP.
