The Bengals were doing whatever they wanted in that game. Do you really think the Bills were winning that?

Let’s say the Bills were playing Arizona that night to secure the 1 seed. Do you really think they wouldn’t have fought to complete the game at some point?

Yup.

I'd say they had maybe a 40% chance of 'earning back' the 1 seed in that game.

And a 60% chance of falling down to the 3 seed and facing a far tougher test in the WC round PLUS having to go back to Cincy if/when they faced off in the divisional.

If the Bills aren't willing to admit that at least some part of their mind was doing that math, they're lying to you.

The stakes for that game were ENORMOUS and the consequences of the ND are really tame compared to the probable consequences of a loss.
