Who was it who tried to throw a pass left-handed, was that Plummer? That one ranked right up there.

It's got little to do with Geno. It's just a message board fight. A handful of people made it their life's obsession that we had to pick some QB, any QB at #1 and are still diaper-rashed that the entire league had the same judgement about Geno that their critics did.

Then Claynus and a couple of others who are pot-stirrers, self promoters, or possibly troll projects latched on to it to promote as a generic board controversy.

I don't think anybody would have balked at taking Geno Smith in the mid-2nd round or below, which was about where his value was. It's just a war between two factions who said he was worth the #1 overall or he wasn't.

Instead we take a guy that makes Jordan Black and Barry Richardson look like All Pros LMAO Yeah, value.

I'm pretty sure Plummer did it also.

The point you miss if that that 'contest' is overwhelmingly a product of a vocal few who greet every decent Geno play with 'OMGWTFSmurfAnal!!!! It's Tom 'Dan Marino' Brady!!' and every thunderingly dunderheaded outing is met with 'eh, he's a rook, ain't all gonna be flowers and pixie dust.'

Funny how rookies get that kind of slack, compared to win now veterans who have supposedly seen it all, huh?

Not particularly, not for where we sit here and now.

I saw "the look" today. That famous, vacant, Cassel-stare in his eyes.

This is why having a QB that needs the perfect run game and the perfect O-line just ****ing blows. Bottom line; how many times did the defense give this puke an opportunity today? How many?
And how many times did he, the Great Leader, lead his offense to six?

It's ****ing sad.

Step Back from Smith

After being afforded time and a clean pocket against the Falcons on Monday Night, Geno Smith (-4.0) had a different challenge this time. The more defensively sound Steelers didn’t get a boatload of pressure (14 of 37 drop-backs) but nor did they leave big windows for the rookie to hit open targets. The results, particularly downfield, were not good. The at times hesitant Smith went 6 of 14 on passes aimed over 10 yards in the air, including a horrible interception that should never have been thrown with three defenders in the area (Q3, 8.01).

In hindsight, that was a critical play as Smith took points off the board while allowing Pittsburgh to take time off the clock, swing the field position, and force the Jets to get more aggressive with their offensive game plan. That put Smith in a situation where too much was asked of him, and after a relatively solid first half he melted down with some crucial off-target throws.

As it should be with rookies, it’s a marathon and not a sprint. Smith is going to have more days like this

No surprise. People should still tether the extreme predictions, IMHO. Only time will tell whether Geno gradually improves or if more shit games break him mentally and he flames out. I wouldn't place my bet for either outcome right now.

I agree but people here got to happy with his game vs a awful Falcons D. He's played 3 real defensive teams and looked like dog crap in all 3.
