Fall from what national ranking and why?

Well, I just found out:

"The outcome doesn’t really impact the Jayhawks. Kansas is still going to be a No. 1 seed and should earn the Midwest region over Houston, regardless of the loss. "

There’s a strong argument that guys like Selby or Diallo would’ve helped their stocks (or completely killed them) by coming back.

Dick is going to be a lottery pick. No point in coming back. Very little reward in coming back.

If you've watched Dick all year and are somehow doubting his shot, I don't think we've watched the same player. He has one of the quickest, smoothest releases I've ever seen from anybody ever at this level.

Dick's also going to be completely wide open in the NBA instead of being face guarded/game planned specifically for as he has all B12 season. Those shots are gonna fall.

If he can play 35 minutes a game as a freshman for Bill Self on an top defensive team and not look out of place, I'm not too worried about his abilities in that regard. The lateral movement could serve to be improved (and probably will with time), but with his length and athleticism he'll manage.

Dick is going 11-13 in the draft. He will sign for millions. His game plays in the NBA. He has an upside of being an All-Star.

This team is capable of playing great basketball, obviously. But in the last 2 games against Texas, we showed that we are also capable of playing some of the worst basketball in the Bill Self era.

If (I said IF) they play like they did today against an athletic 16 seed, with the same lack of effort on defense and lack focus on offense, a lot of us Jayhawk fans are going to be desperately praying to the basketball Gods to just let us win this one game.

So, if we don't have a deep run, I get it, but holy crap, just don't lose to the 16 seed.

It looked like we didn't really care at all today. Our defense was horrible, with almost no effort, and on offense we played like today was the first time any of the kids had played together.

And this really wasn't a good game for Norm. Honestly, he looked a little lost on the sideline. I think Self would have been working the refs for the uneven, inconsistent foul calls, and probably would have received a technical at some point. But, Norm just kinda seemed passive.

Take your pick, all come with their own dangers.

tourney time wouldn’t be the same without you finding nuggets of info on the internet to tell us we should be worried about the next team we face in the big dance.

How are we going to face them 3 times next year, though?

But for those freaking out, in the last six times Kansas made the Final Four, the Jayhawks lost in the Big 12 Tournament.

Except last year

Matt Tait is wrong.

I was told by a resident expert, who had many years of experience in the ER, that it's going to takes weeks/months.

And in 2018. And in 2008. Does anyone fact-check these articles?

I come back to it every once in a while to determine I'm not really missing anything.

Granted, watching the Suns a couple years ago was kind of fun. And I guess they now have Durant, who might be 40, and he's someone else I would have loved watching in college for more than one year (despite being at Texas, of course).

FFS, it was a 10 point game halfway through the 2nd half..... if we're going to be so dramatic, at least point out the TCU game at home as the worst evar! (and probably also exhaustion)

Since they aren't joining the SEC until 2024, and since we don't know what scheduling will look like with a 14 team league next year, I'd assume we have 1 or 2 chances in the regular season plus either tournament.

cmh6476 03-12-2023 09:54 AM

What is the conference tournament going to look like next year? You can't have 6 games in one day, right? I found some bracket examples but hard to make sense of it.

https://www.printyourbrackets.com/14...imination.html

2 games Wednesday, 4 games Thursday, 4 games Friday, 2 Saturday and championship Sunday?

cmh6476 03-12-2023 10:04 AM

Looks like wimmens play at t-mobile next year too, and their championship might be Tuesday night. So maybe...

11 v 14 and 12 v 13 Wednesday night (yawn)

8 v 9, 7 v 10, 6 v 11/14, and 5 v 12/13 on Thursday (none of the top 4 playing Thursday now, yawn)

Then finally on Friday 1 v 8/9, 2 v 7/10, 3 v 6/11/14, and 4 v 5/12/13 (this day should be fun)

Semis on Saturday, and championship Sunday?

Mr. Plow 03-12-2023 11:57 AM

Can't see them moving the championship game back to Sunday, but who knows.
