Maybe the Chiefs don't really want to sign Jones at what would be the market rate and are offering him knowingly less. Still doesn't make sitting out make any sense.

Thats entirely possible. Still, why couldn't we go the Tyreek route then?

Work with Veach and the front office before the draft to find a trade partner who's willing to sign him what he wants. Is that too difficult a thing for CJ's agent to agree to? Maybe I'm missing something but it seems that CJ's agent or CJ himself just wants to play hardball with the Chiefs organization in an attempt to further their own careers if they win this holdout. And it's blowing up in their face.

Because the Chiefs want him on contract to win this year. Travis Kelce is 34 years old on October 5th

Sorry I’m at the lake on my phone with bad service

So they already have gotten Veach to do something he’s never been willing to do before, and that’s getting to almost 100% fully guaranteed. And that’s still not enough. I’m not giving Veach any blame in the handling of this. Take it or leave it Chris

Florio talking to Jones’ camp & happy to oblige as their willing stooge in exchange for clicks. F you soaker of the corks.

Well we’re not gonna lay down for the other teams. They have to EARN it, and they haven’t in 5 years.

Yeah, but it’s also only like a 3y deal or a 2y extension beyond this year.

I think we all assumed the length of the contract would encompass the next 4 seasons with 3 guaranteed.

If that’s the deal with that AAV, I think we offered him the bare minimum and I’d be a little more sympathetic to his side. Not sure I trust the source though.

If this is true then the holdout makes even less sense. $3M a year difference? He’s going to wipe out that difference after the first game he misses.

That’s the point of his camp releasing the info. To make you more sympathetic.

I think it makes CJ decision to hold out look even more stupid.

It also reads like a plea for help from a couple of agents who don’t sound particularly good at negotiating.

Sure, so?

Half this board thinks he’s asking for 30mm and the Chiefs offered him a big bump over the Quinnen Williams contract. Not at all the case.

Kman34 09-02-2023 10:33 AM

This is a distraction for the team and this shit needs to end.. Get your ****ing ass in here..

....what? He loses 1M per game.

3 > 1

If his camp leaked it, then it kind of shows why he's holding out honestly. If you were an agent, would you advise him to sign for less than $25m?
