They just announced it. Braves and Mets are postponed the next two days and they'll play a doubleheader on Monday. Means the Braves are going to be fresh for us this weekend but they've gotta save arms for Monday too because those two games will probably decide a playoff spot.

As if things hadn’t turned into a raining shit cluster**** enough….

The Mets, Arizona, and Atlanta are all within a game of each other for the 2nd and 3rd WC berths, and Atlanta currently leads the season series with the Mets 6-5. I'm not sure how it wouldn't matter, but it will be interesting.
The bigger more important matter at hand IMHO is if Sale pitches Friday night now vs. KC. And Fried on Saturday. We we're going to miss these guys in the normal rotation, but now who knows. |

Such complicated math. Looks like the Braves have the tiebreaker on the Dbacks so they'd need to be 1 game ahead of Arizona by Sunday to clinch over them. That's doable, we really need Arizona to win tonight and make this more complicated. Who the heck would have guessed on opening day we'd be sitting here going into the last weekend rooting for Arizona to beat up on the Giants and Padres. What a mess. |
No doubt.
|
Can someone explain like I'm five on what that tweets talking about and how it effects us?
|
The other thing is I just saw the National Hurricane Center has upped their forecast for this thing to be a Cat 4 at landfall. Obviously won't be near that in Atlanta but this is going to be a nasty storm. Hopefully we can even play on Friday.

now Im more confused than normal

What's 100% true is the Braves were about to use their best 2 starters against the Mets and now those games are moved to Monday for a doubleheader. The Braves are on the outside looking in just behind the Mets and Dbacks. Who knows if Atlanta throws their best pitchers at us or save them for the potential doubleheader. What we do know is we need the Dbacks to win tonight to put pressure on the Braves and Mets. The more the Dbacks win it forces the Mets and Braves to play hard while possibly saving something for a Monday doubleheader that would decide playoff teams. |
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This is an awful break for KC. Not only does it mean all 3 games are basically guaranteed to have playoff implications for Atlanta, it means that Sale and Fried, who were supposed to pitch tonight and tomorrow, will likely start Friday and Saturday, with Schwellenbach Sunday. <a href="https://t.co/kVKYzDINAV">https://t.co/kVKYzDINAV</a></p>— Rany Jazayerli (@jazayerli) <a href="https://twitter.com/jazayerli/status/1839053468708794422?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 25, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I would be somewhat surprised if they don’t pitch Sale and Fried. There is a theoretical world where the Braves could lose a series to us and if the Mets take care of business vs a nothing to play for Brewers team, the Braves could be out of it by Monday. This would also include the Dbacks stopping their meltdown. The good news is that we will have Lugo and Ragans on Saturday and Sunday so we could maybe get a close or tied game long enough to get into bullpen which becomes more of a crap shoot. Also, he’s good but Fried has not been usual Fried this year. Sale we have almost no chance of getting to and we have Singer on the mound (assuming the Braves do pitch Sale Friday) in an important game on the road. I’d set his IP over/under at 3.5

We’re winning the whole ****ing thing

In AAA, Nick Pratto hit a walkoff sac fly in the 10th to win the game for Omaha tonight in the International League Championship series. It's tied at 1-1 and they play a final game tomorrow for the league title.

The Royals made their bed. Now they have to lay in it. Finish the sweep of Washington today and win at least one in Atlanta this weekend (regardless of who’s pitching) and they’re likely in. If they can’t do both of those, they have no business being in the playoffs. |
I bought tickets for game 1 of the ALDS. I figured that would be our best option of catching another game at the K this year.

The White Sox are such a dumpster fire of an organization. Some of this stuff is crazy.

I can see how Liam Hendricks rubs teammates the wrong way if you know anything about him (he's woke), but still, part of being a good teammate is embracing every one regardless of your differences and definitely being in his corner when he has cancer.

The White Sox are trash. They can fall off a cliff, as far as I’m concerned. But please find a way to beat Detroit a few times first.

The big key is we need to win tomorrow or have Minny lose tonight and tomorrow so we can set our rotation for the series. Singer pitching tomorrow for us. Ideally, would like to save Lugo and Ragans for games 1 & 2 in Houston. |

Lol Detroit is 9-1 against the White Sux. I doubt they lose, but maybe the Sux can pull one off.
|
The weird thing is the Sux seemed semi motivated right now to NOT get that 121st loss, so they actually played a decent series against the Angels and finished the sweep today, so I think their going to go into Detroit with a little motivation. Of course, that all goes away as soon as they lose one but who knows, maybe Friday they pull off a crazy win?
That said, if we manage to get in, I honestly don’t want to pass Detroit at this point. I’d rather get the last Wild Card and play Houston. We match up better with them. And then if we somehow managed to pull that series off, then we play Cleveland. I like that matchup better than any other potential matchup in the playoffs. We need to be rooting HARD tonight for Miami and Baltimore. A Baltimore win means a motivated team heads to Minny and still has something to play for (AL East crown). GO ORIOLES! GO MARLINS! |

We just need 2 good outcomes of those 7. There’s a lot of ways that this works out for us. Only a handful of ways this works out for the Twins. Sweeps are hard even against bad teams. I don’t see us getting swept. I don’t see the Twins sweeping Baltimore. By pulling off the sweep of our own against Washington, I’ll be really surprised if disaster happens. Obviously, it’s possible but sounds unlikely. |
Atlanta finally announced their starting pitcher for tomorrow; Max Fried. Nothing yet for Saturday or Sunday. They're clearly taking it one game at a time at this point.
Lucky us. |

Good news, bad news. NY up 5-0 on Baltimore now, but Miami up 3-0 with 2 runners on and one out.
Need Minny to lose tonight because they may be playing Orioles B team all weekend. Edit: scratch that. If O’s lose to Yanks they’re still only up 3 on Detroit for Top Wildcard spot and Detroit has tie breaker over Balty. So they’ll be plenty motivated to get that win tomorrow night either way to lock up the Wild Card series at home instead of on the road. So Yankees game outcome less important now. |
Marlins get a run on a throw home with drawn in infield but the catcher dropped it.
|
Trying to switch to mlb network to see if I can catch an update on the twins game from the NFL game between commercials on prime is not convenient
|
Marlins stranded the bases loaded in the top of the 5th by the way and then got a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half. One out in the top of the 6th, still 4-0 Marlins.
I'm watching the Marlins broadcast and they have commented on how tight they thing the Twins look. People in the crowd are getting restless. |

Omaha seems to be taking care of business.

Omaha has taken a 7-3 lead in the final game of the International League championship series. They're 3 innings away from the International League title if they can hold on.

The Twins are in total playoff mode. Griffin Jax, one of their two relief aces, comes in to keep the deficit at three runs.
