I've been incredibly sloppy, lazy, and undisciplined with my eating this month. The month of discipline fell apart in the kitchen before it ever got started. I'm probably averaging 2000 calories a day this month. By far the worst I've done in this long of a stretch all year long. Not a big deal, I can fix it. But FFS, I've lost 12lbs so far this month. Why? I'm running almost 30 miles a week. Running = WIN!

Yeah and 2,000 calories is still a deficit for you.

I burn up between 4500-5500 calories a day between running, walking/shopping, and breathing. At least I do according to my bodybugg. I ****ing love that thing. I'm to the point now where I have a pretty good idea of what I burned during a run before even checking the software. This thing has made me so much more aware of what equals what.

You must look at that thing several times a day and just think "**** yeah."

How much is a 5-mile run doing ya for?

I only check it a couple of times a day believe it or not. I get too comfortable and eat too much. I haven't eaten shit today. At all. I'm waiting it out because I've been a pussy for the last week and a half. It really has nothing to do with weight loss, I just need the discipline of fasting. It's good for me.

I ran 5.5 miles in an hour today and burned up 1500 calories between that and the 5 minutes of warming up and cooling down. I generally burn between 1200-1800 calories a day at the gym depending on what I'm doing. My long run which I do once every week or two gets me over 2000. I'm going for 8 miles here pretty quick, maybe 8.5. My record right now is 7.5 and it was a painful experience.

How much do you burn during lifting?

Don't overdo it, Hardnuts.

Next to nothing. I burn like 300-400 calories in the half an hour that I spend lifting weights. I'm not. I train almost every day, but I take a day off generally every 7-10 days.

I wouldn't doubt if I've gained some this month...been out on business and it's hard to say no to the free food and drinks. I know a couple of weeks won't kill me but I'll be traveling the rest of the month with just weekends home. Luckily I have been fasting at least one day a week so maybe the damage won't be as much as I think it is.

BTW, NewPhin, I'm going to order that cookbook you suggested and hopefully I'll get into the cooking thing with that as a reference.

I just racked my four homemade brandy's that have been going for 7 months. I'm going to grab a cigar in a few minutes and go try some.

Mr. Flopnuts 06-12-2010 08:01 PM

I'm going to have to change my routine up here at some point I imagine. I've been lifting for 4+ months now. I just don't know what to do. Silock, what do you think about 5X5s for me? I really have no idea where to go from here.

Mr. Flopnuts 06-12-2010 09:20 PM

I am waxed. 3 egg omelet with 5 strips of crumbled up turkey bacon and 1 1/2 oz. of shredded colby jack cheese. Oh, and a tablespoon of light sour cream and tapatio hot sauce. Seasoned those eggs up with some powders around the house and it was pure awesome. Under 600 calories too.

That happens. I know this feeling and it can be quite painful. Don't worry though, you'll get through this in no time. Within a quick snap before you know it. you still have that feeling and desire in you to do it, so, thats whats most important and will overcome the barriers you're facing now. Strong will always wins. Just don't let any feelings of anxiety, or stress get in the way. I often find at times that could mend the will. I face those battles everyday of my life.

Im really happy that you believe in yourself. Isn't it amazing how this stuff just makes you a better person? How discipline is a requirement, and how consistency is the key to being successful in health and fitness. Just that alone is challenging, being consistent. The question is, how much of a disciplinarians are we really? This is something I know I've always had, but not enough of it. I've been trying really hard to develop into a disciplinarian over the years and been getting better at it. This is what I mean in how it makes us better people. We can develop this over time and be a lot stronger as a result.

Sounds like you are doing great Flopnuts. Keep up the good work!

I'm reaching my goals as well. I'm not going to a gym and have limited workout stuff. But it's all about diet and effort. I switched my diet up, eating almost all natural foods. I had to take out coffee, sugar and salt. I usually start my day with an apple and a cup of green tea. Go out for a run, come back and have oatmeal + a fruit. Lots of water and I snack on fruit's and nuts throughout the day. Have a lean protein + brown rice or leafy greens or a sweet potato for my carbs. I feel 100 times better than I did a year ago.
