That's awesome, and you're to be highly commended. I can only imagine how successful you are in other areas of your life seeing how dedicated you are to just this. I would say that right now, you're probably even more dedicated than I am. That's just fantastic!

I'm such an infant in all of this. I'm really not all that successful truth be told. Especially lately. But there is a major change going on. And I'm hoping that all of the hard work, dedication, and effort that I've put into this will translate to other areas of my life. I know now that I have it in me. It's just a matter of putting it to work.

I don't think I'm more dedicated to this than you. You put a lot of time in, not only at the gym, and on the pitch, :) but also into studying all of it in order to optimize your performance through your practices. I know you refuse to acknowledge it, but you've been instrumental in my success. I'm not sure I would've gotten here without the wealth of knowledge you've been so willing to share. You know all that though.

In any case, thanks for the kind words. I'm changing in ways that I thought was impossible not very long ago.

All that and humble too... you make me sick.

Sorry, but I've never felt this good about myself. What does the average man weigh? 175? If so, I've lost an average man. :)

HOLY CHIT dude that's awesome. I haven't checked in on this thread for a while, but glad I could in time to note this accomplishment. That's great man, keep up the good work. Your dedication is insane. Losing weight, getting in shape, quitting smoking. Nice!

Okay, it's been like six months since I worked out..... okay, three days.... but it just feels like a really long time.

Not working out sucks. Of course, lifting with a hurt shoulder sucks too. So, I am determined not to lift for a week.

Four more days after today.

Silock 06-14-2010 06:40 AM

You won't lose an ounce of muscle mass from not lifting for a week. Don't worry.

I was at an average of 1200 calories for Sunday-Thursday and then today while out of town I have an awesome hotel breakfast consisting of a waffle, a bicuit w/gravy, a hard boiled egg. About 800 calories for breakfast. Then I take my kids to MCD's and i order a grilled chicken classic plain which is only 420 calories but my kids dont finish their meals and I end up eating an order of fries and 3 chicken nuggets. Then at dinner it is a buffet and they have mashed potatoes turkey, ham and gravy. I have two plates and have no idea on the calories but I know its a lot and then I had a milky way bar(first candy bar in 3 monthes, yummy). And I get back to the hotel and they have complimentary snacks(free chocolate chip cookies, of which I have two) And now I am drinking vodka and cranberry(the cranberry is light so that helps) But I have went off my calorie rocker today and I'm sure tommorrow I will do the same so I may have a 6K-8K calorie weekend. Yuck! I may have to shoot for 800 calorie days next week or just do a couple of fasts. Just thought I should post this so you all will call me a weak pussy to motivate me. Also before today I have lost 40 pounds in about 2.5 to 3 monthes. I'm sure this won't blow my diet but I feel guilty.

I was in the same boat... sorta. We went to dinner with 2 other couples & they screwed up a couple of the orders so they comped everyone a HUGE dessert. They were so good. We were all sharing &, since my order was screwed up, I didn't eat much of the actual dinner. I filled up on bananas foster, choc cake, & fried ice cream. Bad move....

Does anyone know a good site to help diagnose injuries?

epitome1170 06-14-2010 11:13 AM

A little help...

Is it possible to lose muscle (along with fat) even if you have enough protein in your diet?

The concern was brought up since I started two a days last week in order to trim down, but I wanted to keep my muscle mass. I am on a low calorie, high protein diet (1600 calories, 200 grams protein). So with such a large calorie deficit, is it possible that even though my protein intake is adequate that since the calorie deficit is so large that it actually breaks down the muscle too?

Not if you are weight training too. Otherwise, yes, you will most likely lose some of your muscle mass.

Yes, it's possible. Protein intake doesn't regulate muscle mass; resistance training does. But if you aren't currently weight training anyway, you have little to worry about.

So my wife decided to start going to the gym a couple of weeks ago. She doesn't need to lose more than 10lbs or so, but wanted to start strength training. She hates 24 because of the atmosphere there and decided to join a different gym. They gave me a 6 week pass for free because they knew that she'd be more likely to stick around if I was there to help her get jump started. This is turning into pure, unadulterated, win!

I went and lifted this morning and then ran 3.5 miles. I was in the gym for a little over an hour. Tonight I got home and she said she wanted to go to the gym but only if I went with her. 4 more miles. WIN!

Time for some turkey tacos bitches!

Hey Flopnuts thats awesome to hear. Great your getting others going to.

I had a nice one tonight. Noticing my lifts going up a little bit more with each workout until I hit those plateaus then I'll just have to fight through them. Missed my previous workout with all kinds of shit goin on. I can't stand missing a workout. Took down 1.5 scoops of whey and 10 grams of creatine (since I missed taking creatine yesteday) Had a little chicken pre-workout.

Silock 06-14-2010 09:32 PM

Pro tip: If you miss a day of creatine, try to space it out if you want to make it up the next day. Like 5 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon.
