His game hasn't changed much since 2010. It's not like teams don't have film on him. If it were easy to stop his game, teams would have been doing it.

From the 9ers board:

"No longer on the team, I don't care about him. I'm a 9er fan. I care about players on my team."

"f**k the Chiefs and the 31 other teams not named The San Francisco 49ers. That's how I feel."

not saying who posted this...but I find it amusing that he's here.

The reality is, if you play sound defense, special teams and win the turnover battle, you can play conservative offense and win a lot of games in the NFL. Fans love the hi flying offense, I get it...it's fun to watch, but you still won't win if you don't play sound, all around team football. Alex Smith isn't flashy, but he protects the football, and seems to make the critical throws most of the time.

It's not all about being flashy or having a high flying offense. It's about setting the tone on offense. Chiefs O was downright terrible on Thursday and needed their D and special teams to carry them for the majority of the game. Some people here think the Chiefs will always put up record breaking turnover ratio year in and year out like the 2011 9ers. Yea...that's sustainable.

Um, yes. If you can throw down the field consistently you open up the entire offense. This is not rocket surgery.

I don't know about the "not sustainable" thing for Alex's style of play, though. It's been sustainable for his last 30 games or so.

Wait, wait, wait. Did I niss something? Clay ( Alex Smith Hater) is now championing him? This place is priceless

Tebow won games but anyone with a brain knew theBroncos success was not sustainable. Alex is light years ahead of Tebow, but my point is, wins tend to wash away legit analysis.

In his last 2 seasons under Harbaugh he has played 24 full games. He threw for NO TDs in 7 of those games. He threw for just 1 touchdown in 8 games. That's no more than 1 touchdown pass in over half his games. He got a LOT of help. He will need a LOT of help in order to be successful anywhere. He's getting that right now.

Type smaller **** for brains

You're questioning my football knowledge and think it's normal to not throw the ball to a top receiver?

You'd have to be a reerun if you think Avery's going to be your go-to guy while Bowe (who is making a shitload of money this year) is used as a decoy.

you're a troll. every post you've made since your first is evidence/ I can't beleive this place has changed to the point where your rep is green not that reps importamt it's just crazy I guess

But, when they needed him to step up - he did. He finally made the throws he had to at the end. It was nice, too bad he doesn't have the confidence to do it a full game.

All you need is for Andy to make Alex fear him more than he fears throwing deep.

'Did, does, and always will' just doesn't mean what it used to.

There are 2 dominant boards so no clue which you mean, but this was on 49ers.com in the "Congrats Alex & Chiefs" thread.

This is true. On avg the Defense is getting 80 yards to work with. Teams are starting at their 20 on avg.

When Smith doesn't turn it over the defense is only put in a tough spot after a great special teams play by the opponent.

WAS or PHI defense are put on the field at the 40 yard line.

Alex is a game manager, but he is the best one out there. When he is on, it can be pretty spectacular. When he's not on the team has to carry him. Last game before he got hurt last year he was 18 for 19 setting an NFL record for completion percentage. His one loss last year he threw 3 picks.

Is it? I'm pretty sure by now he's proven that he's AT LEAST an average QB (assuming he keeps going at the pace that he is without completely imploding the rest of the way). I mean if he truly did suck I would've expected him to throw a ton of INTs and put up some losses by now. A lot of us thought those last 2 years in SF was a mirage and without that team he was just a turd but he's looked exactly like the same QB he was then.
