This. I can handle the shit(may not like driving in it), but losing power will not be fun at all, if it happens.

Yeah, I noticed that also. Obviously, whoever wrote that wasn't in the same 15 mph wind as me today.

The radar echoes for this map are already quite impressive, as is the isobar gradient between the high over Montana and the Low over Texas. You can see how important the track of this storm is, simply by looking at how the echoes are lining up. Even 50 miles could mean the difference between a foot of snow and 4 inches.

That would suck. The only thing I got going for me if that happens is a fireplace.

This is the latest NAM. The forecast models keep pushing the heaviest amounts of snow south and east. Not to say KC won't get hit, but not as hard as Central and SE MO will.

http://www.hpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/d12_fill.gif

This is the QPF. If all precipitation falls as snow you can assume a ratio between 10-15:1 if all precipitation fell as snow. More likely close to 10-12:1 given the temperatures it will be falling at. These numbers will be obscured at points at or south of the rain snow line. Points northward it should be a pretty accurate representation.

Red, that QPF is insane, you need to be aware that snow ratios at first will be 10:1 but IMHO we will be looking at 15/17:1 tomorrow with the temps as cold as it will be. KC Metro proper QPF looks .5-1 so 8-14 inches easy... that 2 inch mark (23-26 inches)

Mother Earth is PISSED.... this big bad ass snow storm.

Look at this hurricane going off to the area in Australia that was JUST flooded not too long ago. Holy shit....

Agreed. The last thing I need is my electricity going off and my furnance going off.

I don't need to deal with frozen pipes is my main concern.

The furnace goes off, shut off your main and open all your faucets in the house. Flush the toilets, empty the water heater and you shouldn't have too many problems.
